Did you know that YOU are a member of the
“HEAVENLY HOST” who, to this day, are still
praising God for the greatest miracle in all eternity —
when GOD BECAME A MAN? Yes, God in the flesh!
But, oh, there is so much more to this miracle! Here is
where you and I, in fact all who love Him, are a part.
Read it and shout!
“And suddenly there was with the angel a
multitude of the heavenly host praising God,
and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, good will toward men.’”
Luke 2:13-14
So, who was this “heavenly host” besides the
angel? Oh, I’m glad you asked! We know Enoch,
Moses and Elijah were there in heaven along with the
multitudes who had gone before — but wait — FOR
TWO THOUSAND YEARS, that multitude has
been growing! WOW — John the Revelator speaks
of a great multitude praising God with the “sound
of many waters” (Rev. 19:6). Yes, today you and I
can join that heavenly choir adding our voice to that
glorious symphony!
But, there is so much more to this lesson.
First of all, we see that God GAVE! Yes, the most
precious gift all of heaven could give! As we have
taught so often, God gave what He needed! He gave
His only Son so that —
“He by the grace of God should taste death …
[so that He] could bring many sons unto glory”!
Heb. 2:9-10
Yes, God’s gift brought the Wise Men with their
gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the Christ
child. In a few more lines, I’ll tell you how WE can
give a gift — yes, to Jesus Himself!
But, the story goes on — a type of pilgrimage
even today.
Well, the next chapter is when Jesus faced death!
When King Herod learned of a new king, born in
Bethlehem according to the prophet Micah, he was
furious! He ordered all the male children two years
and younger to be murdered!
Oh, how Satan would love to kill you and me! Anyone
who loves Jesus and is a threat to Satan’s dark kingdom is
in danger! But, PRAISE GOD, with God there is always a
way of escape! Hallelujah! I have counted many near misses
from the evil one — I’m sure you, too, have been a victim
of his horrible rage! Some precious martyrs have given their
lives for the Gospel and have earned the glorious martyr’s
crown! But, praise God, we are still here and by God’s grace
we are still sending this “GOOD NEWS” to the very ends
of the earth! Praise God for the old ship TBN — still riding
high on the waves — battle scarred but still giving the old
boy trouble! Praise the Lord!
The similarities to Jesus’ journey continue.
The angel warned Joseph to take Mary and the babe
to Egypt to escape Herod’s wrath! We also have our own
wilderness journeys with sin! Paul the great apostle
enumerated his journey: in hunger, stoning, shipwreck,
beatings, and fi nally death — but he proclaimed “we are
MORE THAN CONQUERORS” (Romans 8:37) through
Jesus Christ our Lord! We, too, shall have our victories.
Jesus finally returned to the land of promise and home
just as we will also do some sweet day! In the meantime
let us vow, just as Jesus did, that we too will, “Bring
many sons to glory” with us (Heb. 2:10). Praise God, we
are doing it through 12,000 plus stations, cables, satellite,
and the Internet! Millions around this world are turning to
Jesus Christ as the truth reaches them because of YOU, our
precious Partners!
I told you earlier in this letter how we all can give a gift
to Jesus — the only gift He desires. He told us Himself:
“Inasmuch as ye have done it to the least of these…
ye have done it unto me.” Matt. 25:40
