“THE LAMB [OF GOD] SLAIN FROM THE
FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.” Rev. 13:8
What an awesome truth we embrace here with wonder: Before the creation of the world, God instituted the blessed law of GIVING AND RECEIVING! God knew that even HE would have to abide by His own law if He and all of His creation were to receive anything! Yes, God gave first! We have read it with joy many times -
"God so loved the world [His world] that he gave..." Jn. 3:16
We see this wondrous law in practice all through the Bible.
Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek, "priest of the most high God," and received a miracle son in his old age! Abraham also received the promise of a great nation, thousands of acres we call the "Holy Land," plus great riches of gold and silver! (Gen. 13:2; Gen. 15:4, 18).
Can you believe that a harlot gave refuge to the spies Joshua and Caleb? Jericho fell, but Rahab received mercy and redemption for herself and her family as she hung a scarlet cord from her window as instructed by the two spies (Josh. 2:12-21; Josh. 6:17, 22-25)! But the blessings didn’t stop there. Rahab is mentioned in Matthew 1:5 as part of the Messianic line of Jesus! Her scarlet cord was a prophetic foreshadowing of God’s promise of mercy and redemption for all mankind.
King Solomon gave a thousand burnt offerings to God and received great wisdom, plus:
"Riches, wealth, and honor such as none of the kings have had…neither shall there any after thee have the like." 2 Chron. 1:12 KJV.
Solomon also built the Great Temple of God with gold and silver — so much so that it was said, "The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones" (2 Chron. 1:15 NKJV)! WOW! But then at the dedication of the Temple, Solomon gave a "thank you" offering of twenty — two thousand oxen and one hundred twenty-two thousand sheep! WOW again! No wonder that God said there was not a king before or after Solomon, as great or rich as he!
We could go on and on with stories of men and women, great and small, who discovered this law of God and prospered. But we also read with sorrow as the same people that were blessed in Solomon’s day, were cursed according to the record of the prophet Malachi. Why? Ah, I think we all know too well. Read and learn:
"You have robbed me of the tithes and offerings due to me." Mal. 3:8 TLB
But with the rebuke God goes on to promise great blessing — "IF" — yes, here is that eternal LAW OF GOD again: We have to give if we hope to receive. God even goes on to invite them to put Him to the test! WOW again!
"Bring all [my] tithes into the storehouse so that there will be food enough in my Temple." Mal. 3:10 TLB
God goes on to make this awesome promise:
"If you do, I will open up the windows of heaven for you and pour out a blessing so great you won’t have room enough to take it in!" Mal. 3:10 TLB
Let’s pause here to ask why God was so concerned about the support for His Temple? Ah, I’m glad you asked. You may have heard me liken the Great Temple to God’s TV network of that day. His Temple was to show the nations of the world who the true and living God was. Provision was made to receive the pagan worshippers of idols and make them sons and daughters of Jehovah God — yes, by faith, heirs of the promise made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! The prophet Isaiah proves it:
"For mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people [nations]." Isa. 56:7
So, fast forward to the 21st century — to you, to me and to our blessed TBN! In the New Testament we see clearly how this ancient law is brought into our time and why Jesus Himself confirms God’s law by saying:
"Give and it shall be given…." Luke 6:38
His word sounds much like the prophet's:
"I will open the windows of heaven…." Mal. 3:10
And this is about the same as:
"Good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over…." Luke 6:38
Abraham and his tithe to Melchizedek, Rahab with her scarlet cord, King Solomon and his thousand burnt offerings — why all this study about the law of giving and receiving? Ah, again, I’m glad you asked. We, dear partners, are building Temples! Yes, you know that our temples are not of gold and silver. Paul the great apostle makes it clear: We are the temples of God (1 Cor. 3:16). His eternal plan from the beginning was to bring "many sons unto glory [salvation]" (Heb. 2:10).
Praise God, souls are streaming into glory through OUR TBN TEMPLE! The 24-hour prayer lines ring and ring and ring! As we GIVE AND RECEIVE, TBN is proclaiming the Gospel around the world in many languages, through 10 networks on 76 satellites, feeding TV stations, cable systems, and home satellite receivers, as well as reaching the Internet through streaming and video on demand. We’re covering planet earth with the Good News of the same eternal true and living God! Hallelujah and praise the Lord! Yes, dear partners, now we see why —
"The Lamb [of God was] slain from the foundation of the world." Rev. 13:8
So, Jan and I will join you in giving our best as we shout and rejoice on our great week of PRAISE-ATHON—
As we do, read and rejoice:
"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" Rom. 8:32
Yes, God gave first…do we have any seconds?

SO WHY GIVE?
Many of you may be like me — 38 years ago! I was willing to give to God as long as HE GAVE TO ME FIRST! At that time I did not know or understand God’s great LAW of giving and receiving. God had to shock me with His law, His truth that I had not given Him anything!
Most of you know my testimony. I thought I had given Jan’s and my life savings of $20,000 to God — ah, but I had only “loaned” our savings to Him. When I finally agreed to tear up the note and truly give it all — God “opened the windows of heaven” — and the rest is the miracle of a worldwide TV network.
Try it — it works. Actually HE WORKS to bring to pass the answer to your need. Jan and I have proved it. We too gave first — again, do we have any seconds?
