Hallelujah Hollywood in 1977 was a spontaneous outpouring of excitement and desire to witness for Jesus on Hollywood Blvd. It sprang from a conversation I was having with Paul and Jan Crouch on Praise the Lord about sharing Jesus and carrying the cross. Paul and Jan wanted to join me for a night of witness and they invited the viewers to join us at Hollywood and Vine. I expected only a dozen or so people but by police estimates over ten thousand people showed up, flooding the sidewalks and bringing holy confusion. Many people were saved that night and with the TV cameras filming this inspired many people to share Jesus with others. From the sidewalks into the nightclubs the love of Jesus and salvation was made known.
Walking on the streets with a cross and TV cameras were two visions and dreams. To carry the cross in every nation and to broadcast the gospel message of Jesus to all the world.
Thirty-five years later Paul Crouch and I came back to a new Hallelujah Hollywood with both of us having completed the seemingly impossible missions by the grace, mercy and will of God. This was not just a walk down memory lane but the start of something new from the heart of God. On December the 15, 2012, TBN, the world’s largest Christian broadcasting network, joined with churches and ministries in community outreach of feeding, clothing and giving supplies to the needy with carrying the cross as a public witness and sharing Jesus with others in personal evangelism along the streets of Hollywood. Many people came to Jesus at the Hollywood High football field, along the streets, at the mini rally at Hollywood and Vine, and at the Praise the Lord filming at Hollywood High Auditorium. This was all broadcast to the world via TBN where multitudes more people came to know Jesus as Savior.
It was in Hollywood that I made the twelve foot cross in 1968 and then walked around the world carrying the cross sharing Jesus. It was in Hollywood just outside of Hollywood High auditorium in 1972 that Paul and Jan were set free to begin the journey that led to TBN and reaching the world for Jesus. To have ministered beside Paul and Jan in helping to reach the world and the lost for Jesus is one of the greatest treasures of my life. I love them dearly but I also honor them as a true man and woman of God on a Divine mission of the worldwide proclamation of the message of Jesus Christ. They have been true to their mission and calling.
The seeds have been sown. The cross carried in every nation, TBN broadcasting the Gospel to every nation. Now the mighty harvest of souls! There is nothing more valuable than the saving of one lost soul. That has and must be our focus as we share the message of the cross and the shed Blood of Jesus for our sins.
This is the time to move forward! A time of vision, dreams, Holy Spirit power and passion for the lost, hurting and needy in body and spirit. This is the time! Let’s lift up Jesus for all the world. We have the answer to life’s questions in Jesus who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
