“FOR THUS SAITH THE LORD GOD CONCERNING THE HOUSES OF THIS CITY…
BEHOLD, I WILL BRING IT HEALTH AND CURE, AND WILL REVEAL UNTO THEM
THE ABUNDANCE OF PEACE AND TRUTH.” Jer. 33:4, 6
Finally, finally, finally, it appears that we have
broken through miles of bureaucratic red tape to
begin our New York TV studio.
Yes, after two years of agonizing and endless meetings
and hearings with the City of Englewood, New
Jersey (just across the river from
Manhattan), I am told we have the
permits to begin remodeling the
building we purchased over two
years ago. Officials and neighbors
feared that a TV station would
cause dangerous radiation from its
one watt microwave equipment. So
we had to bring in expert witness to
prove that our “radiation” was less
than a cell phone! We lobbied the
building board, the members of the
city council, most of the neighbors
— dear Lord, I think we lobbied
everyone but the dog catcher!
So why all this hassle over one
small studio? I think most of our
dear TBN family knows that we
have a full power TV station, Channel 54, up the Hudson
River, licensed to Poughkeepsie, New York. While a part
of the greater New York market, it was too far from
Manhattan to require “must carry” on all the many cable
stations. But all that changed with the move to digital TV
mandated by the FCC. To our delight, we found we were
able to build our new DTV transmitter nearly 20 miles
closer to the “Big Apple,” thus requiring must carry from
the cable stations reaching most of the millions of households
of the number ONE market of the U.S.A.! Also, the
TV studio must be in close proximity to the big city.
So, we have sold our studio up in Fishkill, New York and
purchased a new building in Englewood, New Jersey just
across the George Washington Bridge that spans the
Hudson River between Manhattan and New Jersey.
I hope I’m not boring you with all these details, but
I thought, for once, I will let my partners in on a behind
the scenes look at some of the agony we go through to get
Christian TV into every household
of America! I also hope you
dear prayer partners will understand
better why we need your
intercessory prayers as your
TBN continues to explode with
growth at home and abroad!
Believe me, these battles are not
just governmental and technical
problems — I know that spiritual
warfare has been going on in the
heavens over New York City!
God’s word says:
“WE WRESTLE NOTAGAINST
FLESH AND BLOOD, BUT
AGAINST PRINCIPALTIES…
AGAINST THE RULERS OF
DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD,
AGAINST SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS IN HIGH
PLACES.” Eph. 6:12
Paul the apostle warns us to put on “the whole armor
of God.” He goes on to say:
“PRAYING ALWAYS WITH ALL PRAYER AND
SUPPLICATION IN THE SPIRIT.” Eph. 6:18
So, dear, dear Partners: Rejoice, but do not stop praying!
Believe me, the battles are not over as we are building a
new studio for Canton, Ohio which will now reach into
the great city of Cleveland! Also, the FCC has issued the
construction permit for Virginia Beach, Virginia! Finally,
new studios are under renovation for Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania and the Milwaukee,Wisconsin market!
WOW! And besides all of this, dear Ben Miller, our
vice president of engineering, is building new digital TV
transmitters for all of our full power stations — besides
keeping tabs on nearly 300 low and medium powered
stations sprinkled across the U.S.A.! Not to mention the
calls that come in daily from our foreign stations, satellite
uplinks and on and on and on!
So, what’s at stake and what’s the reason for all of
this monumental warfare? I know you know — SOULS!
Yes, the eternal souls of mankind. I love dear Reinhard
Bonnke’s slogan —
“LET’S PLUNDER HELL TO POPULATE HEAVEN!”
I say a hearty “AMEN” to that saying and, praise
God, we are doing just that as over 6,500 TV stations,
cable station affiliates, and little dishes now receive
SEVEN TBN networks from 47 satellites around the
world — praise the Lord God most high!
How can Jan and I begin to thank you for your continued
faithful support? We cannot, but our Heavenly Father
can! He alone can thank you, bless and prosper you as
together we take this Gospel to the whole wide world!
We love you, as I love to say, “32 years long and
strong”!

Renovations are underway—soon Philadelphia
will have a beautiful, new studio!
HELLO NEW YORK CITY!
Permission to build TBN’s studios
in Englewood, NJ has finally been
granted. Soon we’ll be broadcasting
into the “Big Apple”! Praise the
Lord!
Paul at the site of TBN's powerful, new DTV transmitter
on Mt. Beacon in New York. It's located 20 miles closer
to Manhattan than the old analog transmitter!
“There is no speech or language where their voice is
not heard” (Ps. 19:3). Yes, YOUR TBN is now covering
the world with the gospel through its network of 47 satellites,
reaching more than 12,000 TV and cable systems!
Paul and Jan gave a word of greeting and thanks to
Bishop David Evans and the congregation of Bethany
Baptist Church in Lindenwold, NJ during their special
“Welcome TBN” service this past June. Thanks to the
great support and tireless lobbying efforts of Bishop Evans
and the wonderful pastors in the Englewood area,
TBN was given permission to begin construction of our
new studios!
Jan had the joy of showing Dr. Lester Taylor, pastor of
Community Baptist Church in Englewood, NJ, the
plans for TBN’s new studios.
Jan was delighted to meet up with Franklin Graham,
during the Billy Graham Crusade in New York City.
Franklin’s ministry, Samaritan’s Purse, is helping to
provide medical supplies and equipment for Jan’s “Smile
of a Child” hospital in Haiti.
