"SING O SEA!"
Glorious good news! Just a few days ago, Jan and I helped the King of TONGA sign your new TV station ON THE AIR! Yes, Channel 33 is beaming your TBN to this south sea island nation 24 hours a day! Praise the Lord!
How the devil fought! We started this station 15 years ago, when King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV came as our honored guest on Praise The Lord. He gave his blessing and the promise of a TV license for his nation. We got excited, ordered equipment, signed contracts, and then -- enter our archenemy! It would serve no good purpose to try and tell a very sad story! Suffice it to say, many years have passed, and the agonizing pain in my soul asks, "How many did we miss? How many were lost because of this needless delay?" I can tell you this for sure: The blood of any of the lost souls will be on someone's hands! Not mine, nor TBN's, since we fought, cried and prayed for all these years to send Christian television to the many islands of the Tonga nation. All of that we leave in the hands of our Heavenly Father. This I DO KNOW -- over 100,000 new souls now have the witness of Jesus Christ, the only Savior of the world! How do I know? Well, there are only TWO stations on the air in Tonga -- one is the government station, and it is only on for a few hours a day; and the other is TBN, on the air 24 HOURS! So, for most of the day, it is TBN or NOTHING! You know that EVERYONE will have to tune us in sooner or later! Praise the Lord! And we all know that many will hear and accept the old, old story of Jesus and His love! My heart is singing, YES--
So, "Where is Tonga?," you ask. Get your atlas out, and first, find Australia and New Zealand; go north a few inches on your atlas, and there it is near Samoa, American Samoa and Western Samoa. We learned, to our delight, that American Samoa has TBN on cable 24 hours a day! We landed there for refueling on our way to Tonga. Everyone in the airport greeted us warmly and thanked us for TBN and Christian television. How kind and sweet are the dear Samoan people.
But the even greater news was just to the west, in Western Samoa, a separate sovereign nation. Apia, the capital city, was buzzing with the news and anticipation of the upcoming Benny Hinn crusade!
After landing, on our way back from Tonga, the Prime Minister greeted us warmly at our affiliate TV station, and hosted us at a classic Samoan dinner! Wow -- they eat good, natural, healthy food in Samoa! After drinking the milk from a fresh coconut, we enjoyed fresh fruits (some we had never heard of), nuts, vegetables, and fish. No wonder folks live into their 80's, 90's, and even beyond 100!
We had a brief ceremony at our affiliate TV station, Channel 11. Richard and Marjorie Meredith, the leaders of Graceland Television, honored us with gifts of native arts and crafts. I received the great hand-carved staff of a Samoan chieftain, so the staff now calls me "Chief Inspector Crouch!" Again, how warm and kind were the dear Samoan believers to Jan and me!
The next day they brought a whole group of children, many of them handicapped, to the TV station where Jan had the great joy of handing out your toys, dolls, and trucks to little angels whose faces lighted up like a Christmas tree, as they clutched their new bounty like a drowning soul! As a child, I could not understand the scripture, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." But, NOW, I do! Oh, YES, I really do! To see the JOY on little faces as a Barbie doll or pickup truck is placed into the hands of a needy precious child!
Finally, the Benny Hinn crusade, the next night, was the crowning glory to all that was accomplished. Dear Benny let us have an official dedication of the TV station before 50,000 precious souls who had come from all over the south sea islands. He led us in a beautiful dedicatory prayer, laying hands on a bronze commemorative plaque that will hang on the wall of the TV station in Samoa, till Jesus comes!
The crusade was vintage Benny Hinn, as hundreds were saved and healed by the power of God. One outstanding miracle was a young man that had been grievously injured by an auto accident that, literally, caved in his skull. As a result, he had been completely paralyzed on one side of his body. As the power of God touched him, his paralyzed side (arm and leg) came to life as he danced and praised the Lord! The place exploded in praise to God for this very evident miracle!
Ah, dear Partners, shall we continue? The other islands are calling. Fiji Islands, Cook Islands, and all the rest that I cannot even name! Even New Zealand and Australia are calling. We have some coverage there by cable, but they want a whole 24-hour TV station! Do you blame them? We, who have been so blessed for 28 years with TBN, can hardly imagine what it would be like to NOT have Christian television!
I know your answer by the Spirit of God -- WE WILL GO ON! We will keep building stations and launching more satellites TILL EVERY SOUL ON EARTH IS REACHED! Let me hear YOUR "AMEN!" If you agree, please let Jan and me hear from you. Your love gifts and regular Praise-A-Thon pledges are the lifeblood of this great witness, called TBN, that is now on over 2,400 stations and 18 satellites, covering our WHOLE WIDE WORLD!
God bless you! Oh, how we do love you and thank you for 28 glorious years of amazing harvest! Because of YOU, a host that no man can number will one day rise up to call YOU "BLESSED!" Yes -- everyone sing--
Please write or e-mail us -- Together, let's "SING HIS PRAISES" to the WHOLE WIDE WORLD!
