“IT WAS BY FAITH THAT MOSES, WHEN HE GREW UP, REFUSED TO BE CALLED THE SON OF PHAROAH’S DAUGHTER; CHOOSING RATHER TO SUFFER AFFLICTION WITH THE PEOPLE OF GOD, THAN TO ENJOY THE PLEASURES
OF SIN FOR A SEASON.” HEB. 11:24, 25 (TLB & KJV)
So, what would you give up — what would I give up for God? You know what? If you will go with me on an adventure of faith, I will show you that we really cannot give up ANYTHING for God! A strong statement? Yes, but God’s own Word proves this to be true. As we have often shown: God will not let you or me outgive Him!
Again and again, throughout the Holy Word of God, we see that most everything we receive from the Lord begins with our giving! God Himself began the whole plan of our salvation by giving —
For God so loved the world that he GAVE…” (John 3:16).
And even to receive this greatest gift, we have to GIVE Him our hearts! How we love Jesus’ own words: “Give and it shall be given” (Luke 6:38).
The apostle Paul praises the Philippian church because they had learned the great principle of “GIVING AND RECEIVING” (Phil. 4:15).
King Hezekiah gave his personal wealth to open and repair the Temple of God, and as a result God defeated his Assyrian enemies; healed him of a fatal disease, adding fifteen years to his life, and made him one of the richest kings, next only to Solomon!
“So Hezekiah became very wealthy and was highly honored. He had to construct special treasury buildings for his silver, gold, precious stones, and spices…. He also built many storehouses for his grain, new wine, and olive oil, with many stalls for his animals, and folds for
the great fl ocks of sheep and goats…. He acquired
many towns, for God had given him great wealth.”
2 Chron. 32:27-29 TLB
Dear Partners, time and space make it impossible to tell of
all the great miracles of God in this short letter, but look for
yourself — most every good thing in God’s Word begins
with GIVING!
So, what did Moses give? Well, at that time Egypt was
possibly the richest nation on earth. And if Moses would
have played the game, he would have become one of the
richest men on earth! He was already a prince, as the adopted
son of Pharaoh’s daughter, and was certainly in the line of
succession to become the next Pharaoh!
So, put yourself in Moses’ place: become one of the
richest and most powerful men on earth — or stay with the
Jewish slaves and wander across the Sinai desert dragging a
Tabernacle tent and three million grumbling Jews! Ah, what
a choice!
But, here is where FAITH makes the decision. Dear
partner, read on — it really gets good about here! By faith,
Moses esteemed “the reproach of Christ greater riches
than all the treasures of Egypt” (Heb. 11:26)!
So, why did Moses choose affliction over great riches?
I’ll tell you why — Moses knew God. He knew that there was
something up ahead far better than Egypt! He had his eye on
a “city…whose builder and maker is God” (Heb. 11:10). And
if heaven was the only reward it would make the wealth of
this world seem as nothing! The great apostle Paul wrote
that he counted the things of this world as “DUNG”! Look
that word up if you really want to know what Paul thought!
But here, dear Partners, is another KEY to your need!
Another proof that you cannot outgive God! Yes, thank
God for that “BLESSED HOPE.” Praise God, heaven is our
ultimate home, but God wants to bless you NOW! WOW —
“The people did as Moses said and asked the
Egyptians for silver and gold, jewelry, and clothing.
And the Lord gave the Israelis favor with the
Egyptians, so that they gave them whatever they
wanted, and the Egyptians were practically stripped
of everything they owned!” Ex. 12:35-36 TLB
So, here we see graphically displayed the awesome
principle of God’s economy. Moses thought he had given up
the wealth of Egypt — BUT GOD GAVE IT RIGHT BACK
TO HIM AS WELL AS TO THE WHOLE NATION OF
ISRAEL! WOW, again!
So, how about that unanswered prayer? Some of you
have been praying for something one, ten, twenty maybe
fifty years with no answer from God. Why not try it God’s
way? Remember: GIVE AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN!
Let me ask one final question —
WOULD GOD HAVE GOTTEN ANY SONS AND
DAUGHTERS IF HE HAD NOT GIVEN HIS SON?
I rest my case!
