In John 15:5, Jesus declared that He is "the vine" and we are the "branches." Then, he goes on to say that as we "abide" in Him, we are to bear fruit—even "MUCH FRUIT." Now, here is the KEY, and may be the reason some are NOT receiving the things they are asking God for! Jesus went on to say that if we (the "branches") abide in Him (the "vine), and BRING FORTH FRUIT, then and ONLY then— " YE SHALL ASK WHAT YE WILL AND IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU" (John 15:7).
