2005 — TWO MILLION SOULS!
|
>>
|
“FOR THE SON OF MAN SHALL COME IN THE GLORY OF HIS FATHER WITH HIS ANGELS; AND THEN HE SHALL REWARD EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS WORKS.” Matt. 16:27
How and where do I begin? 2005 has been, without doubt, the greatest year of spiritual harvest in our 32 year history! Now, before you lay this newsletter aside thinking it’s just a lot of dry statistics, you had better think twice. If you are not ablaze with “joy unspeakable and full of glory” (1 Peter 1:8), as our dear E.V. Hill used to say, “YOUR WOOD IS WET”! And as we rejoice over the great harvest of
souls, reread the last sentence of our theme Scripture above —
“HE [JESUS] SHALL REWARD EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS WORKS”!
Dear Father, I love Mike
Purkey’s new recording of
“WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE TO
BE THERE”! Yes — “EYE HATH NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD… THE THINGS WHICH GOD HATH PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM” (1 Cor. 2:9)! HALLELUJAH!
Besides many new programs, we are overwhelmed
by the Nielson ratings of all of our programs. Let me explain: A “number 1” means one million homes are tuned in; a .9 means 900 thousand homes are tuned in and so on. Larry King got a 1, but Joel Osteen’s grand opening got a .9! Fox News got a .9; TBN’s “Greatest Story Ever Told” got a .8! We beat the pants off of CNN with a .5, also MSNBC .4, Headline CNN .3, CNBC .2 and .1. Yes, dear Jan and her staff are beating nearly every other cable network which is causing the whole TV industry to sit up and take
notice! As of this writing, TBN is seen in almost
96 million households in the U.S. through cable, over the air stations and DBS subscribers! Praise the Lord! If we add all of the foreign stations, overseas direct-to-home satellite subscribers and cable station affiliates, the number of viewers is in the multiplied hundreds of millions worldwide — and growing fast! Glory be to God!
Jan’s assistant, Isaac Hernandez, filed a report that I must give you in part. Isaac thrilled us with the following:
“This year has been a very exciting one with many new movies, documentaries, and weekly
series. Some of the major ones have been ‘The
Gospel of John’ a three hour feature film that
used the Gospel account of John as its only script!
We also acquired ‘Mother Theresa,’ a heartrending movie about the life and ministry
of this great saint. We also got the ‘Karla Faye
Tucker’ story, ‘King of Kings,’ ‘The Gospel
According to Matthew,’ ‘The Robe,’ ‘David and
Bathsheba,’ ‘Solomon and Sheba,’ ‘The Bible,’
‘Mary and Joseph: A Test of Faith,’ ‘The Inn of
the Sixth Happiness,’ and many smaller, but
still very compelling movies!”
No wonder our Nielson ratings are skyrocketing!
And let me add here that only with you, our faithful supporters, were we able to acquire so many new movies, but there is more — Isaac continues:
“Another area where we have acquired many
great new programs is in the area of compelling documentaries. These have shown up with amazing ratings. Three of the most popular have been, ‘George Bush: Faith in the White House,’ ‘The Da Vinci Code Deception,’ and
‘The Privileged Planet.’”
WOW! When I saw “The Privileged Planet,” I was
shouting “HALLELUJAH!” It absolutely knocks the
slats out of the theory of evolution! There are so many more great new programs, like: Travel the Road and one of my favorites, Travel Through History. By the way, I hope you get this letter in time to see the New Year’s Day premiere of “Beyond the Gates of Splendor,” an award winning feature length film about the five
American missionaries that were martyred in the
Amazon jungle by the Waorani natives. I could go on and on with many new features, but time and space do not permit. Just stay tuned to your TBN for the very best Christian television!
I could write another whole newsletter from our
engineering department. Ben Miller, our Vice President
of Engineering, has worked overtime building (ultimately)
31 brand new digital TV transmitters as mandated by the
FCC. Even now, in many of our full power station cities,
you can get all FOUR of our networks free through the
air, and soon Jan’s Smile of a Child network will be
on the air — she is so excited, she will give Ben and the
staff no rest!
All I have time for is to tell you that we still have
156 TV stations under development — from
Alamogordo, New Mexico to Hilo, Hawaii! Pray for our
engineering staff as we only have till July to finish
building all of the new digital stations — by the way, at
about 1 MILLION DOLLARS each!
But there is one new full power station that in a way is a personal victory to me.
Fourteen years ago, we bid for and won a full power
station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the fourth largest
TV city in the U.S.A. Through an agonizing series of lies
and attacks of enemies we lost it, and I was accused of
violating the station ownership rules of the FCC. Eight
agonizing years would pass, including an FCC hearing in
front of an FCC law judge, before the end of this drama.
At the FCC hearing, the judge ruled against TBN and me,
and revoked our Miami TV license. It looked for a time
that all our TBN stations would be lost. Only God knows
the agony that gripped my soul! The only option we had
was to sue the FCC in federal court. Another agonizing
year would pass, but glory be to God, on May 5, 2000,
the three member panel of federal judges voted 3 to 0 to
overturn the FCC, release all our licenses and vacate the
entire eight year nightmare! All praise to God Almighty!
The AWESOME news is that on October 1, 2004,
we closed escrow on full power station WGTW-TV
Channel 48, Burlington, New Jersey/Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, covering about 10 MILLION new souls
with YOUR TBN 24/7! This was the sweetest revenge ever on the evil one for TBN and PFC personally! Praise God again! Renovations began last year on the building we purchased that will house the new studios.
Again, time and space will not permit the full report on the miracles of 2005, but I would be remiss not to brag on our young people who have expanded the JCTV (Jesus Christ Television) network. Instead of MTV, with some of the most vile music and lyrics, we are instead giving our youth JCTV! Praise the Lord! In their report,
they say: “Thanks to TBN partners, JCTV has had the resources to continue to grow and impact today’s youth with the love of Christ.” To find out where JCTV is available, visit www.jctv.org and click on “Stations Update.” Be sure to help get JCTV on in your city. Just call 1-866-WANT-JCTV, which will automatically connect you to your cable system where you can request JCTV! Before closing, I have to give you one short testimony —
“JCTV has shown me other young people out
there like me! Thank you Paul and Jan for that
wonderful vision that has brought many to life!
Without that dream, Paul, a lot of us young people
would be confused and lost. Signed, Monica.”
WOW, Monica — YOU MADE MY DAY! PRAISE
THE LORD!
So, as I said at first, what should set your soul ablaze with praise to our wonderful Lord? How about over 12,000 television stations and cable systems worldwide that have brought at least TWO MILLION SOULS to Christ in 2005? It is probably many more, as not everyone lets us know of their new faith in Jesus. And as TBN continues to grow, so will the number of souls I report to you each year!
Jan and I love you with all our hearts — the responsibilities and burdens grow heavier day by day. I’ll be 72 in March; Jan will be 68, but God gives us the grace to go on — how much longer, only God knows. All we ask is your daily prayers for wisdom and strength, and faithfulness in your financial support. Remember: God has a reward for all according to our works!
Happy New Year and 33 years of love to you all!

2005 — A great VICTORY FILLED year
for YOUR TBN!
|
 |
Last January, Jan along with Don and Sondra Tipton
of Friend Ships Unlimited, sent a cargo ship filled with
TONS of donated food, medicines, clothes, Bibles,
fire trucks, ambulances and ice making machines—
plus volunteers—to help bring much needed humanitarian
aid to Haiti. Jan had the joy of presenting this
gift of love to Prime Minister Gerard Latortue.

Paul visited Bangalore, India in 2005 and met with Dr.
Manakem Prakash, TBN’s coordinator in India at a
“satellite dish farm.” TBN is presently covering nearly
half of India through cable and satellite television.

Last May, Paul had the honor of meeting Israeli
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in Jerusalem. In a
television interview with Paul, Mr. Sharon extended a
warm invitation for Christians to come and visit Israel.
