47,000 toys to needy children

TBN's 'Smile of a Child' Provides 47,000 Toys for Children around the World

Few things thrill the heart of a child more than a toy. That is why TBN's "Smile of a Child" program has taken more than 47,000 toys to needy children all around the world. "Our ongoing project of Smile of a Child -- all year around -- is to provide toys to thousands of hurting children in need around the world," said Jan Crouch, co-founder of the Trinity Broadcasting Network and founder of Smile of a Child.

Smile of a Child is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization devoted to helping needy children around the world. In addition to toy distribution, Smile of a Child has contributed to other projects such as feeding children, building hospitals, and funding reconstructive surgery for needy children. Recently, Smile of a Child brought medical attention to a Kenyan girl whose face had been terribly mauled by a hyena. The organization has also contributed to the building of the Smile of a Child Hospital in Haiti. Through its efforts, Smile of a Child is doing all it can to make sure that no needy child is left behind.

To date, toys have been placed in the hands of children in such countries as Samoa, Nicaragua, Chile, Namibia, Fiji, Costa Rica, India, Tonga, and Kenya. While most of the toy distribution is done by Smile of a Child volunteers, Jan and her husband, Paul Crouch, also enjoy personally taking toys to youngsters. On one trip to Haiti, Jan was able to give a baby doll to a small girl who had always dreamed of having a baby doll of her own. "As a result we brought thousands and thousands of toys," stated Jan Crouch.

"Oh, the smiles on those angel faces -- the joy in their eyes -- when they received a toy," declared Paul Crouch, "many of whom have never had a toy of their own before. Then there was the visit to the 'abandoned babies' hospital when Jan held a precious child that was so weak from malnutrition and disease that the little one died in Jan's arms ... there are no words for that!"

"That's why I am building the hospital in Haiti," said Jan.

To continue bringing help to needy children, Smile of a Child is accepting financial contributions. Contributions can be mailed to:
