Acclaimed Motion Picture "The Gospel of John" Airs Wednesday, July 19th at 7:00 p.m. PST

7-19-2006 -- (Los Angeles) -- Trinity Broadcasting Network announced it has pre-empted regular programming to air the critically acclaimed motion picture, "The Gospel of John," tonight at 7:00 p.m.

"The Gospel of John," the best-loved of the four Gospels, vividly comes to life in a faithful and powerful dramatization of the biblical text. "The Gospel of John" meticulously recreates the era of Jesus during a tumultuous period that changed the course of history.

Starring Henry Ian Cusick as Jesus as well as narrated by Christopher Plummer with a cast of over 2500, "The Gospel of John" has been adapted for the screen, word for word, from the American Bible Society's "Good News Bible." Adaptation was skillfully crafted by Emmy-nominated John Goldsmith and directed by acclaimed British director, Philip Saville.

"The Gospel of John" is a clear example of TBN's ever-increasing commitment to broadcasting thought-provoking venues "that positively impact people from all walks of life. Further, viewers are captivated in both mind and spirit," says Paul Crouch Jr., TBN Vice of President of Administration and eldest son of TBN founders Paul and Jan Crouch.

Called "a sprawling, visually stunning work" by the Seattle Times, "The Gospel Of John" features 75 principle actors including such notable talent as Daniel Kash as Simon Peter, Stephen Russell as Pontius Pilate, Scott Handy as John the Baptist, and Henry Ian Cusick in the lead role of Jesus Christ.

"The Gospel of John" opened on September 26, 2003 in select theaters across the US. It has been considered by some to be the pre-cursor to Mel Gibson’s hugely successful "The Passion of the Christ" which made box-office history in 2004.

"Both films, though different in their creative portrayals of Christ, have shown Hollywood executives that people want movies that accurately depict the life of Christ and Bible events," says Susan Zahn, President of WDC Media, Public Relations.

"The Gospel of John" airs tonight, Wednesday, July 19 at 7:00 p.m. PST. For more information visit http://www.tbn.org/index.php/2/4/p/555.html
