LOS ANGELES (WDC Media News) -- Officials at JCTV, Trinity Broadcasting Network’s (TBN) youth and action sports network, announced that JCTV will film a new reality TV series, “Cruise with a Cause,” aboard the Royal Caribbean Line’s Sovereign of the Seas in late May.
The cruise will feature music by a dozen Christian rock and pop acts, including ZOEGirl, Sonic Flood, New Song and Kutless, as well as appearances by world champion wrestler turned champion for Christ Steve “STING” Borden, funnyman Logan Sekulow of the popular TV program “The Logan Show,” and inspirational speaker Dr. Mark Chironna.
“We will be filming onboard the ship as well as on the Bahamas Grand Island, where passengers will disembark to attend a crusade and take the gospel to more than 20 schools,” explained Brandon Crouch, grandson of TBN founders Paul and Jan Crouch and one of the reality show’s hosts.
Crouch explained that reality-based shows like “Cruise With a Cause” are among the most-watched programs on JCTV. “The fact that faith-based travel has exploded over the last ten years factored into the network’s decision to launch the series,” he explained. “Our goal is to keep JCTV on the cutting edge of faith-based programming with programs that will grab 13-29 year-old viewers.”
Susan Zahn of WDC Media, the network’s public relations firm, said JCTV is the first youth television network to film a faith-based reality series aboard a cruise ship. “We are anticipating a huge response from viewers as they follow Brandon and his crew through surf and sand to document how passengers share the gospel with others while having a great time rocking out, eating, and catching rays.”
“Cruise with a Cause,” organized by the non-profit group PraiseFest Ministries, offers a four-night cruise to the Bahamas for $330 per person. Pastors and their wives are invited to travel for free (tax and tipping extra).
“The cruise is customized to provide families and churches an opportunity to participate in mission work if they choose while still enjoying all the amenities of a cruise,” said PraiseFest Ministries President Matthew Dunaway.
Dunaway explained that because the chartered cruise is designed specifically for a Christian audience, there will be no onboard gambling and no alcoholic beverages served.
