On Memorial Day Weekend, TBN Honors America's Military Heroes
LOS ANGELES (May 21, 2014) — This Memorial Day weekend, May 24th-26th, Americans will take time from busy schedules to pause and honor the men and women who have sacrificed to defend our nation's freedom. And TBN, the flagship channel of the Trinity Broadcasting Family of Networks, will be on hand throughout the weekend with a lineup of family-friendly movies, documentaries, and specials designed to honor America's veterans and war heroes, and to help viewers reflect on the importance of the sacrifice so many have made for liberty.
“Each of us owes a debt of thanks to our nation's service members who have given so much to defend America,” said TBN Vice President Matthew Crouch. “And here at TBN we are dedicating this Memorial Day weekend to commemorate their actions, and to honor those who paid the ultimate price.”
Included in the featured special programs airing on TBN this Memorial Day weekend are:
Heart of a Hero. A twelve-year-old boy is shattered when his father is killed in Afghanistan, leaving a hole in his life — along with an unfinished Soap Box Derby car the two were working on. But when he meets a grizzled fire chief devastated by the loss of his firefighter son on 9/11, a new relationship forms and healing begins. As the unlikely duo works to complete the Soap Box car and train for the upcoming race, they learn that life isn't about the starting line or checkered flag, but about the incredible journey in between. Airs May 24th and 26th (check here for broadcast times).
Last Ounce of Courage. A decorated veteran grieving over the loss of his son in battle reconnects with the grandson who is struggling to understand the loss of his father. Together the two wrestle with the true meaning of “ultimate sacrifice” as they join forces against an insidious assault on their community's freedoms. Airs May 24th and 27th (check here for broadcast times).
Flag of My Father. This powerful movie tells the story of an Army nurse and former POW whose faith in God is put to the test as she battles through personal wounds and family hostility following the sudden death of her father, a Vietnam War veteran. Airs May 25th (check here for broadcast times).
Medal of Honor. In this impacting documentary, eight recipients of America’s highest military honor recount the heroic actions that prompted them to receive the Medal, and talk about the feelings they have for their country and for the soldiers who fought along side them. Airs May 26th (check here for broadcast times).
In addition to these movies and programs, TBN will also air a number of other special shows throughout the Memorial Day weekend, including Clancy, Saints and Soldiers, The League of Grateful Sons, The Conscientious Objector (about Medal of Honor recipient Desmond Doss), and Heroes: Faces of Freedom, along with a special May 25th encore presentation of Mel Gibson's classic big-screen movie The Passion of the Christ.
And capping off TBN's Memorial Day weekend will be a very special armed forces edition of TBN's Praise the Lord program, hosted by Matthew and Laurie Crouch, with guests Col. Bryan Walker, director of personnel for the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps; Col. Ron Crews (USAR, Ret.), director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty; Brian Fleming, a wounded veteran who uses his tragic experiences in Afghanistan to bring healing to fellow soldiers and their families; and Chris Plekenpol, a pastor and author, whose book Faith in the Fog of War recounts his tour as a U.S. Army commander in Iraq during the historic 2004 Battle of Fallujah. Tune in to this special Memorial Day Praise the Lord show Monday, May 25th, at 7 p.m. Eastern Time (9 p.m. Central, 10 p.m. Eastern).
“Memorial Day is all about keeping the fire of our freedom burning brightly,” said Matthew Crouch. “It is our privilege at TBN to honor the men and women who have given so much to defend the liberty we enjoy as Americans,” said Matthew Crouch. “May we never forget their sacrifice.”
