Orlando's Holy Land Experience Adds New Biblical “Golgotha” Exhibit to Powerful Summer Lineup
ORLANDO, FLA. (July 31, 2014) — There's an awesome new attraction drawing friends and guests to Trinity Broadcasting Network's Holy Land Experience, the unique Orlando, Florida faith-and-family vacation destination that brings the land of the Bible to life through award-winning dramas, interactive displays, inspirational music, and special events.
Situated prominently in the middle of the 16-acres of beautifully landscaped park property, the larger-than-life exhibit, entitled Golgotha – the Skull, is designed to dramatically re-create for visitors the historic place in the biblical land of Israel where Jesus Christ was crucified and died.
“In the gospels the site that Christians often refer to as Calvary is called 'Golgotha, the Place of a Skull,'” explained Mike Everett, manager of Holy Land Experience. “While that title reflects a sense of of misery and death, in reality Golgotha was — and is — a powerful place of hope, healing, and life, where Jesus died to free humanity from the bonds of sin, sickness, death, and defeat. This exciting, interactive exhibit is designed to give our guests at Holy Land Experience a sense of what Jesus was experiencing as He suffered and died on the cross, and to help them touch His love and mercy in a personal way.”
Built in part with stones collected from the countryside surrounding Jerusalem, the park's impacting Golgotha exhibit is built atop another popular Holy Land Experience site, the profoundly moving recreation of the biblical Garden Tomb, where the body of Jesus was laid after His crucifixion — and from where Jesus was miraculously resurrected three days later. “Our guests are invited to climb the steps of Golgotha Hill, to touch the cross at the top, to pray, and to reflect on what Jesus accomplished at Calvary that day so long ago,” said Mr. Everett. “They then make their way down to the Garden Tomb below, where many guests have testified to being powerfully touched by God as they bask in His presence. This is really what Holy Land Experience is all about — experiencing God in a life-changing way.”
Thousands of Holy Land Experience guests have been touched at Golgotha, the Garden Tomb, and other biblical recreations like the Great Temple and the Wilderness Tabernacle. Others have been impacted through the spectacular Christus Gardens, a collection of rare antique figures and settings powerfully depicting the life of Christ; the Scriptorium, a one-of-a-kind walk-through history lesson featuring priceless volumes of Scripture from antiquity to the present; the astoundingly beautiful Chrystal Living Waters; and the very special Prayer Gardens.
And countless thousands more are healed and changed every week through the park's award-winning theatrical productions like The Passion, The Four Women Who Loved Jesus, and Forgiven, to name a few; the powerful concerts that have featured such anointed singers as Michael English, Carman, Jason Crabb, and Guy Penrod; and even live tapings of TBN's Praise the Lord music and ministry show — all held at the park's state-of-the-art, 2,000-seat Church of All Nations auditorium.
“The Holy Land Experience has touched my heart so deeply — It was wonderful!” said one visitor. “It is a beautiful place where I enjoyed a touching and uniquely spiritual experience,” said another. “Awesome! Like a day in Heaven with the Lord’s presence!” wrote one couple after a day at Holy Land Experience.
“Changed lives and renewed hearts are the foundation of everything that goes on at Holy Land Experience,” explained Mr. Everett. “That's why we're excited about the new Golgotha display, as individuals and families come through the park this summer. It's an incredible addition to the strong lineup of interactive exhibits, dramas, and programs that have kept our guests coming back, and bringing friends and family with them!”
