TBN Partners with Samaritan's Purse to Aid Victims of Katrina

Sept 6, 2005 (Biloxi, Mississippi) --- In the middle of the devastation and misery left by Hurricane Katrina, the Trinity Broadcasting Network is partnering with Samaritan's Purse in an outreach of aid and compassion. Samaritan's Purse pulled into southwestern Alabama and Biloxi, Mississippi, two areas hard hit by Katrina, with a convoy of trucks carrying supplies, staff, and volunteers to help in clearing debris, repairing roofs, and distributing drinking water, clothing, and other crucial supplies.

"So many victims of Hurricane Katrina are poor," says TBN co-founder Jan Crouch. "Many are elderly and live in low-income neighborhoods that were battered by high winds and massive flooding. Many of them just don't have the resources to repair and rebuild their homes and lives. That's why TBN is teaming up with Samaritan's Purse, and that's why we're calling on our worldwide team of partners to help."

Here are some of the items you can help Samaritan's Purse distribute to those hurt by Katrina:

$9 will provide a case of drinking water.

$15 will purchase a Bible for a hurting family.

$25 will furnish a sheet of roofing plywood.

$90 will provide the heavy-duty plastic sheeting to weatherproof a damaged roof.

In addition to financial contributions to aid with relief efforts, TBN has donated 10,000 Bibles for distribution and is sending 88,000 dolls and toys for children whose families have lost everything.

"We're also urging our partners to continue praying for the hundreds of thousands of hurricane victims along the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama," says Jan. "We need to remember how crucial prayer is at a time like this."

TBN is also ministering relief through its own ministry of compassion, His Hands Extended. That effort has seen food, water, and other desperately needed resources distributed to the devastated areas. One-hundred percent of all donations go to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
