TBN Applauds End Times Thriller: "Left Behind: World at War"
Film Premiers October 21st in over 3,200 Churches Nationwide
by Dave Bohon: WDC Media News
Left Behind: World at War , the third installment in the thrilling end-times movie series based on the best-selling books by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, will open October 21st in thousands of churches nationwide. The event will be the first time a full-length, theater movie has premiered in churches, not cinemas, throughout America, explained Peter Lalonde, the movie's producer and co-CEO of Cloud Ten Pictures.
"In the 1970s and '80s, before the days of VHS, 16MM church film nights were one of the greatest ways that churches could introduce non-believers to their church," explained Lalonde. "We want to revive that outreach." Over 3,200 churches across the nation have signed up to participate in this ground-breaking event.
Left Behind: World at War stars Kirk Cameron as talented television news reporter "Buck" Williams, who is thrust into a crucial role as a post-rapture leader in a group called Tribulation Force that is helping people across the globe who desperately need to know Jesus Christ.
Cameron, who has starred in all three Left Behind movies, sees using churches to premier the film as a dynamic move for faith-based film distribution. "The idea of creating a distribution system that aims to open on as many screens as Hollywood's biggest films is ingenious," he said. "If this works as we all wholeheartedly believe it will, then to access this new delivery method, Hollywood studios will have to start making good family films that are acceptable for pastors to show in their churches. This is how we can impact what Hollywood produces."
Peter Lalonde and brother Paul founded Cloud Ten Pictures in 1996, and the studio has quickly become the undisputed leader in the production and marketing of faith-based films. "Our goal with Left Behind: World at War is to provide churches and other Christian venues with a well supported turn-key event that allows them to both reach out to their community while raising funds for their local ministries instead of pouring it into theaters' coffers," explained Paul Lalonde. "Much like Mel Gibson did, we are going both within and outside the Hollywood system."
Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), the world's largest religious television network and America's most watched faith channel www.tbn.org) is currently in negations with Cloud Ten to air Left Behind; World at War in the not so distant future, reports VP's at the network. Cameron and other members of the films cast were recent guests on TBN's flagship production "Praise The Lord" at the networks new hi-profile studio in Hollywood, Ca.
"We've broadcast each Left Behind film to record-setting television audiences, and we expect this third installment Left Behind;World at War to be among the most watched," said Paul Crouch Jr., Vice President of Administration for TBN.
Crouch noted that TBN has a special commitment to broadcasting the very best in faith-based programming. "Whether it's our own exclusively produced television programs or motion pictures, or the fine works of studios like Cloud Ten, TBN has built its reputation on being the market leader in providing the finest in faith-based and inspirational programming. We're proud of that commitment."
Susan Zahn, an expert in faith-based media and founder of the Christian public relations firm WDC Media, said that Cloud Ten's innovative strategy is another example of how producers of quality faith-based films are rewriting the rules of media engagement.
"The commitment of faith-based filmmakers to producing quality, wholesome movies with an inspirational message means they're not afraid to go outside the studio box to find an audience. And make no mistake, Hollywood has taken notice."
Added Zahn, "The rules have changed. Faith-based film venues are no longer a small, niche market. Faith has come to Hollywood and it's here to stay"
PRESIDENT GERALD FITZHUGH lives in a different world – everyone does.
A year and a half ago the world was hit with the biggest catastrophe it had ever seen. Without warning and without explanation, hundreds of millions of people simply vanished off the face of the earth. The world was in chaos like it had never been before.
Yet somehow one man seemed to rise to the challenge. One man had the strength and conviction to unite a shattered world. One man gave the world hope. That man was NICOLAE CARPATHIA. He now rules the entire world.
Fitzhugh, like most of America , whole-heartedly supports Nicolae's new global leadership, but there are those who do not. A dangerous militia movement and an underground group of born-again Christians actively, but separately, work to bring Nicolae down. Their reasons for resistance may be different, but both groups are labeled as dangerous terrorists that Fitzhugh must stop without mercy.
After an attempt on his life though, Fitzhugh begins to look closer at Nicolae and his new World Government. He forces BUCK WILLIAMS, an international journalist who has an inside track to Nicolae, to help him. Buck is a Christian and believes that Nicolae is actually the prophesied Antichrist, but Fitzhugh wants facts – not stories.
With the help of a Militia Spy, Fitzhugh uncovers the government's horrific plans for genocide and quickly he joins the very resistance he had sacrificed so much to destroy. Meanwhile thousands are infected with the government's deadly manufactured virus, including Buck's new wife CHLOE STEELE and his mentor PASTOR BRUCE BARNES.
With time running out both Fitzhugh and Buck must make the toughest decisions of their lives. Will Fitzhugh sacrifice the lives of millions to ultimately save America ? Can Buck lead Fitzhugh to the real truth about Nicolae before it's too late? And after the smoke clears: who will survive World War III?
