Trinity Broadcasting Network Features Mel Gibson's “Passion of the Christ” During Easter Season

LOS ANGELES (April 7, 2014) — Easter has always been a special season at Trinity Broadcasting Network, America's most watched faith channel, as it airs specially selected programming that helps viewers everywhere celebrate the most important event in the Christian faith — the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

And for the fourth year in a row during Easter season, TBN will feature Mel Gibson's classic big-screen movie The Passion of the Christ, which debuted ten years ago and has been embraced by believers the world over for its realistic and moving portrayal of the death of the Son of God.

Starring one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, Jim Caviezel, as Jesus, The Passion of the Christ follows the path of the suffering Savior from his agonizing intercession in the Garden of Gethsemane and savage scourging at the hands of the Romans, to the final moments of his brutal crucifixion. Throughout this intense and emotion-packed film, Jesus is portrayed in all of his humanity while flashbacks of his life reveal his true divine nature.

Due to overwhelming requests from viewers, TBN will air The Passion of the Christ — unedited and with no commercial interruptions — throughout the two weeks leading up to Easter Sunday, beginning April 12, and beyond. Visit TBN’s Passion of the Christ web page for specific broadcast times.

TBN Vice President Matthew Crouch noted that the newly released big screen movie Son of God, produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, has helped to re-ignite interest and passion among many people for spiritual renewal. “The millions of viewers across the earth who regularly tune in to TBN confirm that people in every culture are searching for lasting values to guide them,” he said. “We are honored to once again include The Passion of the Christ among the many TBN programs and specials that help individuals and families connect to faith in Christ.”
