Urgent Action! "Multicast Must-Carry" Legislation

Important Update:

Urgent Action Required on "Multicast Must-Carry" Legislation

Capitol Switchboard (202) 224-3121

A new revision to a law that helped bring Christian television to nearly every home in the U.S. is now before the U.S. Congress, and TBN is asking viewers to contact key U.S. Senators and Congressmen and ask for their support.

In 1992 Congress passed the "Must Carry" law, requiring cable companies to carry all the signals of locally available networks. "That law changed the broadcast landscape and made Christian television available to millions of homes across the nation," said Paul Crouch Jr., Vice President of Administration for TBN. "Friends of TBN made the difference then by contacting key legislators. Now we need their help one more time."

Crouch explained the revision would add digital signals to the law, requiring cable companies to carry all of the digital signals of a television station. "TBN is already broadcasting four networks from a number of our TV stations," explained Crouch. "Many of our viewers are aware of our other digital networks that include The Church Channel, TBN Enlace, and JCTV."

TBN is requesting that viewers take a moment and call or email the key Senators and Congressmen below and ask them to support this key legislation. "Your help could make the difference in getting this law passed," said Crouch. "Without this law the cable and satellite companies will not readily add new Christian channels. This law will help put JCTV, Church Channel, TBN Enlace and our new network Smile of a Child on cable systems across America. Tell the congressmen and senators that you want them to approve "Multicast must carry" in the new Digital TV bill.

"We appreciate your help in this important matter. Together we can make a difference in this country to help influence a World that is lost and needs the Gospel message that we so readily proclaim.

Time is of the essence.
