Making a Difference in the Lives of Your Adult Children.
A mother’s job is never done.
True.
What, though, does it look like to be a mom to adult children that have left the nest and in some cases are raising children of their own?
Laurie Crouch chats with Priscilla Shirer and her mother, Dr. Lois Evans, about this very topic.
Moms, you still have incredible influence in the lives of your “grown-up” kids. You can make a difference by:
- Praying for them. “...The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16 (NIV)
- Speaking into their lives. “I think that there’s always opportunities to still speak into the lives of our children, or those that we have care of…” says Evans.
- Asking God to provide in their lives, in ways that only He can:
- Bring the right people into their lives
- Shape their character
“Lord, I give my kid to you,” prays Shirer.
Yes, a mother’s job is never done. So, to all the moms of adult children: don’t think of this as a never-ending burden, but as a God-given calling as we honor you this month.
You still play vital roles of prayer warrior and encourager in the lives of your children. Boldly approach the throne of grace (Heb. 4:16) on their behalves, as they navigate some of the same life stages that you once did.
Go, mom, go!
