Covenant is a Powerful Word.
It’s a legal term meaning agreement, deed, or contract. It’s the strongest form of a promise.
We see in the Bible that God had made a covenant with Abram, one of the early fathers of our faith (Genesis 17). Abram’s wife, Sarai, was barren and unable to conceive. She was 90 years old and Abram had seemingly lost hope that she would bear him a child (v. 17). But God had other plans for her! Through Sarai, God said, “I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her” (v. 16).
In this clip, Perry Stone discusses the word covenant. Stone mentions that the covenant that God established through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, was carried on through the Jewish people. But God’s covenant is not limited to just God’s chosen people (the Jews). Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob walked with God. We can too.
Whether we are Jew or Gentile (non-Jew), we can be grafted into God’s family and into His covenant if we choose Jesus as our Lord and Savior (Romans 11).
