If the Birds and Flowers Do Not Worry, Then Why Should We?
How many of us struggle with fear, anxiety, and worry?
As we enter into 2020, you may be feeling hopeful or plagued with uncertainty. In this sermon, Pastor Greg Laurie poses a challenge to Believers. He says that a Christian’s life should never be controlled by worry.
Oftentimes, we find ourselves growing anxious about our finances, relationships, or health. However, in Matthew 6, Jesus implores us to look at the birds and flowers when dealing with uncertainty. Jesus reminds us that, “life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.”
Did you know worry can actually be a sin?
A believer who worries doubts the providence of God, explains Laurie. Life is filled with unpredictability, and there are times when you do not have the ability to control what happens to you. Regardless, you can control your reaction to it. This is the example Jesus presents to us in Matthew 6:25-34. Our Heavenly Father has numbered our days and has promised to be our provider and protector. When we worry, we doubt God’s power and authority.
If the birds and flowers do not worry, then why should we?
Remember, in uncertainty you can be sure of God for He grants us the gift of time. It’s up to us to fill our lives with significance. If we stop thinking about ourselves, our time, and our needs, we will find perspective. God reminds us that His plans are greater than what our minds can conceive, and greater than what our hearts desire!
As we enter into 2020, may God remind you of His promises that reign true yesterday, today, and forever!
