“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:1-2, NIV).
Jesus’s love for us wasn’t transactional. It was giving. Extravagant. He loved us without expecting anything in return. It was self-sacrificing love. Agape love. As believers, we are to observe how Christ loved us and try to emulate His love to those around us.
How do we really live out the kind of love that Jesus showed? The bar is so high and seems so unattainable!
It’s doable more than we ever realize!
In this clip, Dr. Les Parrott gives us a raw take on how to love like Jesus. The first step is to understand how Jesus loved. His love was sacrificial, but it didn’t seem so to Him. Washing the feet of others is a very humbling and unpleasant experience. But Jesus did it anyway.
Loving our enemies is often the last thing we want to do. But Jesus did it anyway.
Loving the outcast – such as in the bible story of the woman at the well – can mean social ostracization. But Jesus did it anyway.
Loving those that we know have betrayed us can seem impossible. But Jesus loved Judas anyway.
Jesus Christ was 100% God and 100% man. This means that we as Christ followers are equipped by Him to love like that!
