This is #MyStory - By Dion Robothon
Dion grew up in a broken home. She sought attention from boys, attention that she could not get from her father. She let them influence her thoughts, how she dressed, who she dated. After seeing a young man for about eight months, she sought to escape his relentless pressure to marry him. He wouldn’t give up.
SHE RAN, BUT HE OVERTOOK HER AND PUSHED HER TO THE CONCRETE.
Arriving home late one night, even in the darkness she noticed him standing in the shadows as she put her hand on the door. His bloodshot eyes were enough to heighten her senses, but his words were chilling. “So you thought you were going to get away from me this easy.” She ran, but he overtook her and pushed her to the concrete.
Pinned to the ground, she heard him tell her, “You are mine, and no one can have you. I’ll teach you a lesson.” She felt something sharp in her back. He had stabbed her only three inches from her spine. She remembered what her grandma had always told her, “Never be scared to use the name of Jesus. He saves lives.” In that moment of panic, she cried out loud, “Jesus, please save my life! Please, Jesus!” Instantly, a neighbor turned on a light, a dog barked, and he fled in fear of being discovered. God saved her life, saved her from being paralyzed and from spending the rest of her life in a wheelchair. When she touches that scar on her back, her response is, “Wow, look what Jesus went through on the cross; don’t feel ashamed to ask for help.”
Aſter withdrawing for a period of time to remove herself from the influence of toxic relationships, Dion became a voice for others. Your support makes it possible for TBN to be a source of comfort for Dion. Your giving makes TBN a place for her to share her story. God can use TBN to draw you into a deeper relationship with Him, just like He did with Dion. Positive stories from around the world—stories like Dion’s—are shared to help you face the challenges you encounter in your life.
