God’s heart is for every generation—every age group—to be radically changed by His grace and the power of His Spirit.
When I think of all God accomplished with my parents simply through their willingness to follow in faith wherever He led them, I’m at once thankful and challenged. What they began way back in 1973 impacted that generation. More importantly, it is still impacting current generations!
The question for us (Laurie, me, and you) is: What will we allow God to do through us together in our generation? Where will we, by faith, let the Lord take us? What kind of Kingdom legacy will we leave for the next generation to build upon?
God’s heart is for every generation—every age group—to be radically changed by His grace and the power of His Spirit. He is equally concerned about the wayward grandchild, the stressed-out father, and the ailing grandmother.
Of course, media is a major key to reaching every generation—not only in this nation, but in every corner of the world. You see, those of us in the English-speaking world have grown accustomed to having the luxury of hearing outstanding Bible teaching any time we want. We’re spoiled! Many of the most encouraging, insightful, and spiritually gifted Bible teachers in the world teach in the English language.
... media is a major key to reaching every generation—not only in this nation, but in every corner of the world.
Yet we recognize that there are entire generations who still don’t have the privilege we have—access to the Word of God in their native language. Which is why Laurie and I are excited to bring you the news that we are launching a new programming initiative, Audimus. Audimus is a Latin word meaning “we hear.”
This name is rooted in the second chapter of Acts. You may recall that on the Day of Pentecost, after the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the Church, those assembled in the upper room began to speak with other tongues, and each member of the diverse crowd of onlookers that gathered because of the commotion heard the Believers declaring the Gospel in his or her own native language:
They were completely amazed. “How can this be?” they exclaimed. “These people are all from Galilee, and yet we hear them speaking in our own native languages! Here we are—Parthians, Medes, Elamites, people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, the province of Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, and the areas of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism), Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!” (Acts 2:7–11, NLT, emphasis added).
We recognize that there are entire generations who still don't have the privilege we have - access to the word of God in their native language.
We hear! That makes Audimus a very appropriate name for an initiative created to bring some of the world’s most widely appreciated teachers to new audiences in their native tongues.
For example, our good friend Pastor Joel Osteen is a born encourager. This is why we’re excited the Audimus project will begin with translating his content. As you read this, we are actively translating Pastor Joel’s messages into four languages—Spanish, Italian, German, and Polish—for broadcast on the appropriate TBN networks in Europe.
Words have power!
Through the Audimus translation project, we know we will be able to reach more people with the Gospel and equip more Believers to live impactful Christian lives in those nations. The nations of Europe in which Spanish, Italian, German, and Polish are spoken need the Word of God! Words have power!
... God has a different perspective when it comes to aging than the world does.
All it takes is a realization that God’s promises to you have no expiration date. He’s not less concerned about you now than in the past. You may even be approaching the twilight of your life. Yet God has a different perspective when it comes to aging than the world does. This reminds me of Caleb’s words in Joshua 14:10–11:
“And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the LORD spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in” (NKJV).
... He wants us to believe Him for bigger impact as we grow and mature in Him!
He doesn’t want us to decrease our expectations of impact and fruitfulness as we age. On the contrary, He wants us to believe Him for bigger impact as we grow more mature in Him! In a culture that celebrates youthfulness, it’s easy to forget this. Yet Scripture tells a completely different story. No matter what season of life you’re in right now, we need you. We want to partner with you in impacting lives.
Christians all over the world marked the annual Day of Pentecost just a few weeks ago. As we’ve already seen, on the original Day of Pentecost, ordinary Believers did extraordinary things when they allowed God to put His words in their mouths. That’s why this month, in thanks for partnering with us and helping to make projects like the Audimus initiative possible, we wanted to bless you with resources built around Robert Morris’ revolutionary teaching series The Power of Your Words.
As you partner with Laurie and me in TBN’s global outreaches, we want to invest in your life—helping you flourish as you learn to harness and direct the God-given power of your words. Every Generation Matters. You matter. And together, we’re building a legacy of transformed lives that will last for eternity. Thank you!
