Over the course of her 50-year career, Candi Staton has seen more than her fair share of highs and lows. She’s scored hits in every decade of that span, in styles ranging from R&B to disco to electronic dance music. Along the way, she’s had more comebacks than a prize fighter, garnered four Grammy nominations, and won over generations of fans with her powerhouse voice and timeless songs.
In 1982, she returned to gospel music. Staton and her then-husband, John Sussewell, founded Beracah Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia, with help from Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's PTL Ministries. Staton has since recorded twelve gospel albums, two of which received Grammy Award nominations.
Her book "Beyond a Shadow of Doubt" is a collection of testimonies of how God has worked in her life and strengthened her faith through personal miracles.
