It’s become evident that God is doing a new thing in these critical days for His Kingdom on earth. Because of this, we want to clearly lay out our vision for your TBN’s role in bringing the light of Jesus to the world in new ways, contained in “new wineskins” as Scripture calls it.

Our guided journey began on August 19, 1992, when the late Kim Clement prayed with us and declared a very specific word:

“You will have entrance into the hearts of the ungodly without them even knowing it.”

That very instructive word resonated so powerfully in our hearts, that we began to lay out a detailed plan to impact hearts and lives for Christ using methods our dear friend Myles Munroe termed, “overt” and “covert” methods.

Many seekers who might tune out an overt presentation of the Gospel would otherwise engage with an uplifting program or story that communicates godly principles. It’s the reason Jesus used parables. He often told a good story and walked away, leaving people to ponder truth and prompt the heart toward godliness. This “covert” approach confused his own disciples, who asked, “Why do you tell stories?” He replied, “Whenever someone has a ready heart for this, the insights and understandings flow freely. But if there is no readiness, any trace of receptivity soon disappears. That’s why I tell stories: to create readiness, to nudge the people toward a welcome awakening.” (Matthew 13, MSG)

So with this strategy in mind, we’re thrilled to announce to you a dual-pronged approach that includes an all-new network called Merit Street Media.

Merit Street Media presents a COVERT expression of God’s love through themes like truth, justice, and mercy—the principles of Christ. TBN will continue to focus on OVERT expressions of Christ’s love through preaching, teaching, ministry, and worship.

We are partnering in this new venture with the #1 daytime talk show host of all time, Dr. Phil McGraw, whose audience is a record 10 million viewers in the U.S. alone. In addition to Dr. Phil, a carefully selected group of friends will be following his lead over to this new network. Each is a respected cultural influencer with a large and dedicated following.
