The question is who is the one seated on the throne?

Like why don't saved people have to stand before god at the great

And i think the answer is pretty simple.

I read an illustration a while back about this long jury trial

That had gone on for many weeks.

And then finally at the end of this thing, the jury had been

Sequestered and they're trying to reach a verdict.

And they were called back in by the judge and once they

Returned, they're ready to tell what they believe, but the judge

In that moment looks at the jury and says, "ladies and gentlemen,

No verdict is necessary because the case has been dismissed."

Well, the people were kind of frustrated at that.

They were very invested, they had heard the case, they had put

All their thoughts together, they were ready to tell what the

Verdict was.

And then all of a sudden the judge just throws it out,

Dismisses the case, and they're frustrated.

He could see the frustration on their face and so he decided to

Tell them why the case was dismissed, and this is what

"the case has been dismissed because the defendant has died."

I read that story and i was reminded of my own life.

Listen, when i died to sin, i died to judgment.

Do you understand how this works?

Listen, you can't punish someone who's dead.

Try it, they're like, "you can punish me all you want.

In christ, everything changed when it came to judgment.

There is no condemnation for those who are in christ jesus.

Last trial that'll ever take place.

I want you to imagine what that's like.

In fact, just imagine like you're walking into a courtroom,

And it's full of people, and all of a sudden the judge walks in.

And when the judge walks in, everybody in that courtroom

Panics and runs out in a panic.

And not only are the people moving, imagine the light

Fixtures are shaking and the furniture in the room is moving

And then you look up and it's just you standing in front of

The judge, and he locks eyes with you, and you lock eyes with

The judgment.

And that's the picture that we're seeing in this text.

It's hard to imagine the scene.

The bible gives us another picture of jesus on the throne

In psalm chapter 9, verse 7, it says, "but the lord sits

Enthroned forever; he has established his throne

For judgment.

And he judges the world with righteousness; he executes

Judgment on the nations with fairness."

Maybe you're like me, and you read that, and you're thinking

To yourself, "if jesus is a righteous judge, if he's a fair

Judge, then why will the heavens and the earth scatter from

His presence?

Why will there be such fear in that moment?"

And i think the answer to that is, because the world in that

Moment will realize who he is, but also what he's there to do.

But there was a day that we went halibut fishing offshore.

And as our boat was leaving the harbor, i looked to my right and

I noticed that there was this statue at the end of the

Peninsula and i wondered why.

I was like, "man, i wonder what that is."

In fact, at the end of our fishing day when we got back to

Land, i walked over there because i was curious.

I wanted to know what that was all about.

Well, come to find out this massive monument of this rugged

Mariner was dedicated to remembering the countless

Fishermen who had died at sea over all the years.

Poetic rendering of what that was all about, giving honor to

The power of the sea.

And it was so powerful i took a picture of it and i wanna share

Now i bring this up because when i read this text, i was reminded

That there are countless people who've been lost at sea.

But according to scripture, the ocean waters will not be the

Final resting place for any single one of them.
