Now nebuchadnezzar, the king, made an image of gold,

The height of which was 60 cubits.

Isn't that just like us, how we respond to tragedy?

Maybe god delivers us through a great tragedy,

A cancer scare, or a job loss,

Or the breakup of a relationship, or bankruptcy.

And god sees us through that trial.

He's faithful to us and our first response is to worship god

And thank god for his deliverance.

But then we have that humanistic response.

We say to ourselves,

"i never want to go through anything like that again.

From that kind of adversity."

If we've lost a job and we get a new job,

Or maybe we go through the breakup

That is the humanistic response.

The fact is there is nothing we can do

To protect ourselves from every adversity in life.
