When You're Too Scared to Trust God.
There will be times when God asks us to do something, but we don’t want to obey because we’re frozen in fear. What then should we do?
In this clip, Joyce Meyer recounts a time in her life when she trusted God, but she didn’t trust Him enough.
Joyce and her husband had full-time jobs. They were raising three children. God had impressed upon her heart to study the Bible and eventually teach it. She also had the impression that God had wanted her to quit her job.
Joyce was scared. She was fearful that if she quit her job, she and her husband wouldn’t be able to pay their bills. They were already around $40 short each month even with their full-time jobs, and if she quit her job completely, the $40 shortfall would turn into a larger amount.
So, Joyce halfway obeyed God. She quit her job but got a part-time job out of fear. The result? Joyce ended up getting fired from her part-time job because this was not God’s will for her life. He wanted her to trust Him completely and understand that He would provide for her.
In Joshua 1:9, God tells His people, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” The life-changing lesson Joyce learned and passes along to us is that “faith is the antidote to fear.” We can step out in faith knowing that our heavenly Father will see all things through to completion! As Joyce says, “When God tells you to do something, He always pays for what He orders.”
