Dear Friend and Partner:
I think we can all agree that darkness is growing in our world at a pace few of us have witnessed before. Violence, conflict, and chaos are a daily part of life for people across the earth and even in our own communities. And an increase in sin that would have been unimaginable a few short years ago makes the apostle Paul’s message in 2 Timothy 3 about “perilous times” seem particularly relevant today.
But in the midst of these sobering times there is great news that should fill us with both hope and purpose. “I am the light of the world,” Jesus declares in John 8:12. “He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”
The truth is that through Jesus we have been redeemed into the light of God’s glorious love (1 Peter 2:9). We are no longer slaves to sin, but as followers of the Savior we have His light to guide us through the darkness that is enveloping this world.

But there’s more! In Matthew 5:14 Jesus makes an astonishing declaration of purpose for each one of us: “You are the light of the world.” That’s right! Through His work of redemption we have the authority to pierce the darkness of this world with His light, bringing salvation, hope, and healing wherever it is needed.
What that means for each of us is truly enlightening. Whether speaking His truth into the lives of family, friends, and others or helping send the message of His love to spiritually hungry people around the world, you are a bearer of His light! And Scripture is clear that the light you spread through the seeds of truth you plant “will not return void,” but by faith will accomplish what God intended (Isaiah 55:11).
That is why Laurie and I are so excited for the partnership of individuals like you in the global outreach of TBN. Every prayer you offer and every dollar you sow into this ministry is a Holy Spirit-empowered arrow piercing the darkness and shining the light of Jesus into hearts and homes across the earth.
