What does it mean to be a good steward?
Pastor Robert Morris sits with Matt and Laurie Crouch to discuss this topic from his book, Beyond Blessed. In this clip, we learn that stewardship begins with recognizing that: All the money in my account belongs to God.
If it all belongs to God, what, then, is our role? An important one—one that Pastor Morris refers to as a trustee, and to God’s role as the Owner. This analogy suggests, as Morris describes, that there needs to be constant communication between the Owner and the trustee about how the Owner’s resources should be used. “A steward, by definition, is someone who manages the resources of another,” Pastor Morris describes.
This mindset, when applied, is exciting! Think about it: we have the honor of managing things that belong to God. Wow!
Our responsibility? To manage these resources well, motivated by our love and desire to honor God.
How can we begin to intentionally incorporate stewardship into our daily lives? Begin today thanking God for what He’s entrusted you with and invite Him into your decisions: God, how do you want me to use the resources that you’ve entrusted to me?
