Our Inheritance in Christ by Pastor D

More from Pastor D

As a pastor, nothing saddens me more than to see my brothers and sisters in Christ living below the fulness that God intends for us as His children. In my many years of ministering to others — and in my own personal walk of faith — I have observed that more often than not, when we find ourselves struggling to live at the level of faith and expectation we know in our hearts we should, it’s time to step back and take stock of the incredible inheritance that God’s Word assures us is ours through Christ.

Inevitably when we do that, a miraculous transformation will occur deep within us, where the Holy Spirit dwells. Our minds and hearts will be renewed, strengthened, and empowered, as God’s abundant promises cause fear, doubt, unbelief — and whatever else is holding us back — to evaporate and be replaced by joy and the overwhelming assurance of God’s goodness in our lives.

One of the things I enjoy so much in my ministry here at Trinity Broadcasting Networks is the opportunity I have from time to time to take calls on our TBN prayer line. It never fails that as I listen to the needs being expressed by those calling in, the Holy Spirit will bring to mind a treasure-trove of promises from God’s Word that give joyous affirmation that God sees the needs, hears our petitions, and is bringing an answer in line with our inheritance as His children.

How about you, dear friend? Do you ever find yourself adrift in the circumstances of life that we all face, and in need of a gentle reminder that God sees, He cares, and His promises — every one of them — are yours to embrace and enjoy? Yes, those are times we all face as believers, opportunities God provides for us to intentionally realign our minds and hearts to the deep treasure that is ours through our relationship with Him.

And what is that treasure? Let’s take a few moments to look together at just a handful of the immeasurable promises directly from Scripture (look them up for yourself!) that make it clear who we are and what we can claim through faith in Christ.

To begin with, we are redeemed (Psalm 107:2), new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17), totally righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21), true children of God (Romans 8:14), joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17), and complete in Him (Colossians 2:10).

We are also citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20-21), kings (Revelation 1:6), members of Christ’s royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9), bearers of His light (Matthew 5:14-16), ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), and ministers of His mercy and reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).

In addition to all of this, God has promised us a peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7), health and healing (1 Peter 2:24), and an abundant supply for all we need according to God’s riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

Friend, the really great thing about God’s promises is that there is nothing we can do to lose them. They irrevocably belong to us by faith alone. All we need to do is embrace them.

Here at Trinity Broadcasting Networks our desire is that you will join us in confidently receiving all that God has for us, and that you will allow Him to fulfill His perfect will in every area of your life. I’d like to invite you to join me in thanking God and pressing in for the awesome inheritance that He has so freely given us — an inheritance that is “incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away” (1 Peter 1:4).

And never forget, dear friend, that Jesus loves you and we do too! You can always reach out to TBN for prayer at 1-888-731-1000 in the U.S. or internationally at 1-714-731-1000.

Blessings!
