  • about money and finances.
  • 00:00:03.080 --> 00:00:05.060
  • But that's exactly what we're gonna do today.
  • 00:00:05.060 --> 00:00:08.050
  • So many of us struggle to reach our financial goals.
  • 00:00:08.050 --> 00:00:11.180
  • But what if you could pay off all of your debt,
  • 00:00:11.180 --> 00:00:14.280
  • save for the future and turned your money into a tool
  • 00:00:14.280 --> 00:00:19.210
  • that helps you bring joy, freedom and blessings
  • 00:00:19.210 --> 00:00:24.000
  • to other people that are around you.
  • 00:00:24.000 --> 00:00:26.090
  • I'm pastor Robert Morris and over the last 30 years,
  • 00:00:26.090 --> 00:00:30.000
  • I've seen that God has a perfect plan
  • 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:33.020
  • to overcome all financial stress.
  • 00:00:33.020 --> 00:00:36.160
  • I believe that generosity is the key
  • 00:00:36.160 --> 00:00:39.030
  • to living a Blessed Life.
  • 00:00:39.030 --> 00:00:40.190
  • But before we can be generous,
  • 00:00:40.190 --> 00:00:43.010
  • we have to learn to be wise and faithful stewards
  • 00:00:43.010 --> 00:00:46.120
  • of the resources that God entrusts to us.
  • 00:00:46.120 --> 00:00:49.000
  • And the Bible is full of practical lessons
  • 00:00:49.000 --> 00:00:52.200
  • that show us how to do just that.
  • 00:00:52.200 --> 00:00:55.030
  • I wanna equip you to bless others
  • 00:00:55.030 --> 00:00:57.180
  • and to experience the fullness of God's blessings
  • 00:00:57.180 --> 00:01:01.130
  • in your own life.
  • 00:01:01.130 --> 00:01:02.210
  • Wherever you are today,
  • 00:01:02.210 --> 00:01:04.110
  • you can start living Beyond Blessed.
  • 00:01:04.110 --> 00:01:08.190
  • (upbeat music)
  • 00:01:08.190 --> 00:01:11.070
  • (audience clapping)
  • 00:01:18.250 --> 00:01:20.020
  • Thank you, thank you and welcome back
  • 00:01:20.020 --> 00:01:22.140
  • those of you right here
  • 00:01:22.140 --> 00:01:23.270
  • and welcome back everyone watching at home,
  • 00:01:23.270 --> 00:01:26.070
  • we are talking about Beyond Blessed.
  • 00:01:26.070 --> 00:01:29.290
  • We're talking about that God wants to bless us,
  • 00:01:29.290 --> 00:01:33.000
  • so that we can be a blessing.
  • 00:01:33.000 --> 00:01:34.260
  • Many times though here's the problem,
  • 00:01:34.260 --> 00:01:37.160
  • we have our finances so out of order,
  • 00:01:37.160 --> 00:01:41.010
  • that even though we want to be generous,
  • 00:01:41.010 --> 00:01:43.230
  • even though we wanna help people,
  • 00:01:43.230 --> 00:01:45.230
  • we just can't.
  • 00:01:46.210 --> 00:01:47.210
  • It's like we're in bondage
  • 00:01:47.210 --> 00:01:49.250
  • because we haven't managed our finances
  • 00:01:49.250 --> 00:01:52.230
  • according to what the Bible says.
  • 00:01:52.230 --> 00:01:54.240
  • And that's what's important is to understand,
  • 00:01:54.240 --> 00:01:56.260
  • it's what the Bible says,
  • 00:01:56.260 --> 00:01:58.040
  • the Bible tells us how to be married,
  • 00:01:58.040 --> 00:02:00.080
  • the Bible tells us how to raise children,
  • 00:02:00.080 --> 00:02:02.140
  • the Bible actually tells us how to have a business,
  • 00:02:02.140 --> 00:02:04.260
  • how to be business actions, reactions and transactions
  • 00:02:04.260 --> 00:02:09.190
  • and the Bible tells us how to manage our finances.
  • 00:02:09.190 --> 00:02:11.280
  • So, you're gonna love today because,
  • 00:02:11.280 --> 00:02:14.200
  • I'm actually gonna go through,
  • 00:02:14.200 --> 00:02:16.180
  • that what I call the 10 financial commandments.
  • 00:02:16.180 --> 00:02:20.070
  • Now, because they're 10 of them,
  • 00:02:20.070 --> 00:02:23.030
  • I'm only gonna cover,
  • 00:02:23.030 --> 00:02:24.160
  • about the first half of them, all right?
  • 00:02:25.230 --> 00:02:27.130
  • So I should cover five of them and then in the next show,
  • 00:02:27.130 --> 00:02:30.190
  • I'll do the other five.
  • 00:02:30.190 --> 00:02:32.060
  • But what I did to when the Lord gave me these,
  • 00:02:32.060 --> 00:02:34.260
  • I started writing these down,
  • 00:02:34.260 --> 00:02:36.160
  • I realized,
  • 00:02:36.160 --> 00:02:37.240
  • wow, these actually could line up
  • 00:02:37.240 --> 00:02:40.290
  • with the actual Ten Commandments.
  • 00:02:40.290 --> 00:02:42.240
  • So I'm gonna line up each of these,
  • 00:02:44.000 --> 00:02:46.120
  • with the Ten Commandments,
  • 00:02:46.120 --> 00:02:47.270
  • so hopefully you could remember the 10 financial
  • 00:02:47.270 --> 00:02:51.000
  • commandments, okay?
  • 00:02:51.000 --> 00:02:52.130
  • And remember the Commandments are not something we do
  • 00:02:52.130 --> 00:02:54.220
  • to be safe or saved by grace,
  • 00:02:55.190 --> 00:02:58.000
  • but there's a principle behind each Commandment,
  • 00:02:58.000 --> 00:03:02.070
  • that that principle brings life to us.
  • 00:03:02.070 --> 00:03:04.210
  • And so we'll talk about that.
  • 00:03:04.210 --> 00:03:06.020
  • All right so here's the number one,
  • 00:03:06.020 --> 00:03:08.070
  • first, here's the first financial commandment
  • 00:03:08.070 --> 00:03:12.010
  • and it's put God first.
  • 00:03:12.010 --> 00:03:14.120
  • Put God first.
  • 00:03:14.120 --> 00:03:16.000
  • Obviously it lines up with the first commandment,
  • 00:03:16.000 --> 00:03:18.080
  • Exodus 20:3.
  • 00:03:18.080 --> 00:03:19.280
  • You shall have no other gods before me.
  • 00:03:19.280 --> 00:03:21.240
  • What God is saying is put me first.
  • 00:03:21.240 --> 00:03:23.230
  • So in the very same way,
  • 00:03:23.230 --> 00:03:25.100
  • and we've already talked about it in this series,
  • 00:03:25.100 --> 00:03:27.200
  • we've talked about,
  • 00:03:27.200 --> 00:03:29.110
  • that we are to put God first,
  • 00:03:29.110 --> 00:03:31.040
  • the first 10% belongs to God,
  • 00:03:31.040 --> 00:03:33.070
  • we return it to God,
  • 00:03:33.070 --> 00:03:34.190
  • that's what we do.
  • 00:03:34.190 --> 00:03:36.020
  • So there are all these illustrations in the Bible,
  • 00:03:36.020 --> 00:03:38.110
  • when they went into the Promised Land,
  • 00:03:38.110 --> 00:03:40.190
  • they were to give all of the silver and gold from Jericho,
  • 00:03:40.190 --> 00:03:43.210
  • because it was the first city.
  • 00:03:43.210 --> 00:03:46.000
  • All these illustrations, when your sheep had a lamb,
  • 00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:49.240
  • you were to give the firstborn lamb.
  • 00:03:49.240 --> 00:03:52.010
  • You were to give the first of your first fruits.
  • 00:03:52.010 --> 00:03:54.180
  • Let me just show you another example,
  • 00:03:54.180 --> 00:03:56.240
  • you just read through the Bible,
  • 00:03:56.240 --> 00:03:58.100
  • when you see the principle of first,
  • 00:03:58.100 --> 00:04:00.280
  • and you see this word first,
  • 00:04:00.280 --> 00:04:02.220
  • and then you start seeing it in all these places
  • 00:04:02.220 --> 00:04:05.050
  • maybe you've never seen it before.
  • 00:04:05.050 --> 00:04:07.010
  • So let me set this up,
  • 00:04:07.010 --> 00:04:08.060
  • we're gonna be in 1 Kings 17,
  • 00:04:08.060 --> 00:04:10.050
  • there's a drought in the land,
  • 00:04:10.050 --> 00:04:12.250
  • and Elijah
  • 00:04:12.250 --> 00:04:14.050
  • is by
  • 00:04:14.050 --> 00:04:15.010
  • a brook,
  • 00:04:15.010 --> 00:04:16.200
  • and God is sending Ravens to feed him,
  • 00:04:16.200 --> 00:04:19.120
  • and then the brook dries up.
  • 00:04:19.120 --> 00:04:21.110
  • And then He tells him to go to a certain city
  • 00:04:21.110 --> 00:04:24.130
  • and there's a widow there that's going to provide for him.
  • 00:04:24.130 --> 00:04:28.260
  • Here's where we pick it up.
  • 00:04:28.260 --> 00:04:29.260
  • 1 Kings 17:10.
  • 00:04:29.260 --> 00:04:32.090
  • So he, that's Elijah,
  • 00:04:32.090 --> 00:04:34.250
  • arose and went to Zarephath.
  • 00:04:34.250 --> 00:04:37.110
  • And when he came to the gate of the city,
  • 00:04:37.110 --> 00:04:39.250
  • indeed, indeed it's almost like,
  • 00:04:39.250 --> 00:04:42.040
  • just like God said there would be,
  • 00:04:42.040 --> 00:04:44.010
  • a widow was there gathering sticks.
  • 00:04:44.010 --> 00:04:46.280
  • And he called to her and said,
  • 00:04:46.280 --> 00:04:48.120
  • "Please bring me a little water in a cup ,that I may drink."
  • 00:04:48.120 --> 00:04:52.030
  • And as she was going to get it he called to her and said,
  • 00:04:52.030 --> 00:04:55.010
  • "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."
  • 00:04:55.010 --> 00:04:58.140
  • So she said, "As the Lord your God lives,
  • 00:04:58.140 --> 00:05:01.210
  • I do not have any bread,
  • 00:05:01.210 --> 00:05:03.140
  • only a handful of flour in a bin,
  • 00:05:03.140 --> 00:05:06.140
  • and a little oil in a jar.
  • 00:05:06.140 --> 00:05:08.230
  • And see I am gathering a couple of sticks
  • 00:05:08.230 --> 00:05:12.020
  • that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son,
  • 00:05:12.020 --> 00:05:16.180
  • that we may eat it and die."
  • 00:05:16.180 --> 00:05:19.200
  • And Elijah said to her, "Do not fear.
  • 00:05:19.200 --> 00:05:22.130
  • Go and do as you have said, but,"
  • 00:05:22.130 --> 00:05:25.010
  • now watch this carefully.
  • 00:05:25.010 --> 00:05:27.000
  • "Make me
  • 00:05:27.000 --> 00:05:28.050
  • a small cake
  • 00:05:28.050 --> 00:05:29.150
  • from it,
  • 00:05:29.150 --> 00:05:30.150
  • first,
  • 00:05:31.170 --> 00:05:32.150
  • first
  • 00:05:34.080 --> 00:05:35.030
  • and bring it to me,
  • 00:05:36.020 --> 00:05:37.240
  • and afterward,
  • 00:05:37.240 --> 00:05:39.160
  • make some for yourself and your son,
  • 00:05:39.160 --> 00:05:41.270
  • for thus says the Lord God of Israel,
  • 00:05:41.270 --> 00:05:44.070
  • the bin of flour shall not be used up,
  • 00:05:44.070 --> 00:05:47.200
  • nor shall the jar of oil run dry
  • 00:05:47.200 --> 00:05:50.090
  • until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth."
  • 00:05:50.090 --> 00:05:55.050
  • And,
  • 00:05:55.050 --> 00:05:56.190
  • that drought lasted three years and six months.
  • 00:05:56.190 --> 00:05:59.160
  • Now, we think it was just a few months,
  • 00:05:59.160 --> 00:06:02.240
  • probably about three to six months,
  • 00:06:02.240 --> 00:06:05.090
  • before he went to Zarephath,
  • 00:06:05.090 --> 00:06:07.080
  • but for three more years,
  • 00:06:07.080 --> 00:06:09.230
  • she had one meal left.
  • 00:06:09.230 --> 00:06:13.090
  • But because she gave to God first,
  • 00:06:13.090 --> 00:06:16.020
  • that lasted, just a little flour,
  • 00:06:17.170 --> 00:06:20.160
  • and a little oil in jar lasted three years.
  • 00:06:20.160 --> 00:06:22.280
  • It's a miracle.
  • 00:06:22.280 --> 00:06:24.010
  • But look at the principal,
  • 00:06:24.010 --> 00:06:25.120
  • when you put God first, there's the provision.
  • 00:06:25.120 --> 00:06:28.060
  • But I wanna just tell you something
  • 00:06:28.060 --> 00:06:29.200
  • that you may have never ever thought of in your life.
  • 00:06:29.200 --> 00:06:32.210
  • There's a drought in the land,
  • 00:06:32.210 --> 00:06:34.230
  • God sends Elijah to this little city,
  • 00:06:34.230 --> 00:06:37.170
  • small, small city in Israel, small city,
  • 00:06:37.170 --> 00:06:40.140
  • to a widow.
  • 00:06:40.140 --> 00:06:41.100
  • And He says I'm gonna provide for you
  • 00:06:42.130 --> 00:06:44.080
  • because the brook is dried up,
  • 00:06:44.080 --> 00:06:45.170
  • and he's been doing Ravens, okay.
  • 00:06:45.170 --> 00:06:47.100
  • Why didn't God send Elijah to a rich person?
  • 00:06:49.160 --> 00:06:52.280
  • Okay.
  • 00:06:55.260 --> 00:06:57.040
  • I hope you catch this.
  • 00:06:57.040 --> 00:06:58.210
  • This is so good.
  • 00:06:58.210 --> 00:06:59.220
  • God did not send Elijah to the widow to provide for Elijah.
  • 00:07:01.070 --> 00:07:05.290
  • He send Elijah to the widow to provide for the widow.
  • 00:07:08.290 --> 00:07:13.140
  • She was about to die.
  • 00:07:16.260 --> 00:07:18.040
  • She and her son are about to die,
  • 00:07:19.130 --> 00:07:21.030
  • but Elijah said, but if you want to get in on the provision,
  • 00:07:22.150 --> 00:07:25.130
  • the supernatural provision of God,
  • 00:07:25.130 --> 00:07:27.150
  • there's an order,
  • 00:07:28.150 --> 00:07:30.030
  • and that is you put God first.
  • 00:07:30.030 --> 00:07:32.000
  • See, God did not need the widow to provide for Elijah.
  • 00:07:32.000 --> 00:07:35.110
  • He had been sending Ravens,
  • 00:07:35.110 --> 00:07:37.260
  • to bring Elijah food everyday.
  • 00:07:37.260 --> 00:07:39.170
  • In another place,
  • 00:07:40.220 --> 00:07:42.120
  • an Angel,
  • 00:07:42.120 --> 00:07:44.030
  • just as Elijah was asleep and when he woke up,
  • 00:07:45.140 --> 00:07:47.230
  • there was an Angel there, that made him a cake.
  • 00:07:47.230 --> 00:07:51.130
  • I mean that's the very first angel food cake.
  • 00:07:51.130 --> 00:07:54.050
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:07:54.050 --> 00:07:55.220
  • That's it right there.
  • 00:07:55.220 --> 00:07:56.200
  • That's the original right there.
  • 00:07:56.200 --> 00:07:58.200
  • I'm just telling you God did not need
  • 00:07:58.200 --> 00:08:01.270
  • this woman to provide for Elijah.
  • 00:08:03.000 --> 00:08:05.190
  • God wanted to provide for her.
  • 00:08:05.190 --> 00:08:07.150
  • And here's everything.
  • 00:08:07.150 --> 00:08:08.290
  • Now we're not just on that financial provision,
  • 00:08:08.290 --> 00:08:10.060
  • when we talk about a blessed life
  • 00:08:10.060 --> 00:08:12.020
  • or like beyond blessed,
  • 00:08:12.020 --> 00:08:14.040
  • I'm not just talking about your money,
  • 00:08:14.040 --> 00:08:15.250
  • please hear me, don't let your life.
  • 00:08:15.250 --> 00:08:18.090
  • This woman had already lost her husband.
  • 00:08:18.090 --> 00:08:20.090
  • She had one son left.
  • 00:08:21.110 --> 00:08:23.000
  • If we kept reading,
  • 00:08:23.000 --> 00:08:24.160
  • you know, we were to learn, some of you know this story.
  • 00:08:24.160 --> 00:08:27.120
  • The son died.
  • 00:08:27.120 --> 00:08:28.110
  • He died. He had some sort of a terminal disease.
  • 00:08:30.040 --> 00:08:34.100
  • God looks down, sees this widow,
  • 00:08:34.100 --> 00:08:37.000
  • sends Elijah to provide for her,
  • 00:08:37.000 --> 00:08:39.110
  • and when her son died,
  • 00:08:39.110 --> 00:08:41.200
  • Elijah raised him from the dead.
  • 00:08:41.200 --> 00:08:43.080
  • She had to put God first.
  • 00:08:46.160 --> 00:08:47.280
  • I'm telling you the whole reason God your
  • 00:08:49.030 --> 00:08:51.110
  • I know so many will think, "Why does God need my money?"
  • 00:08:51.110 --> 00:08:54.140
  • He doesn't need your money, he actually wants to bless you.
  • 00:08:54.140 --> 00:08:57.110
  • And yet for some reason we won't put Him first.
  • 00:08:58.170 --> 00:09:00.220
  • So that's number one.
  • 00:09:00.220 --> 00:09:01.200
  • Here's the second one.
  • 00:09:01.200 --> 00:09:02.280
  • Don't worship material things.
  • 00:09:02.280 --> 00:09:05.100
  • Don't worship material things.
  • 00:09:06.250 --> 00:09:08.140
  • This goes along the second commandment.
  • 00:09:08.140 --> 00:09:10.220
  • Exodus 20:4.
  • 00:09:10.220 --> 00:09:12.050
  • You shall not make for yourself a carved image.
  • 00:09:12.050 --> 00:09:15.250
  • Don't have an idol.
  • 00:09:16.270 --> 00:09:18.050
  • Here here's what we got to say about that.
  • 00:09:18.050 --> 00:09:20.100
  • Material things sometimes we make idols out of them.
  • 00:09:21.250 --> 00:09:24.190
  • You wanna know why, because we put them in front of God.
  • 00:09:24.190 --> 00:09:27.120
  • I know people who have skipped on their tithe,
  • 00:09:28.180 --> 00:09:30.290
  • to be able to buy something.
  • 00:09:32.110 --> 00:09:33.230
  • That's an idol. That's an idol.
  • 00:09:35.290 --> 00:09:38.180
  • And all of a sudden we're worshiping and saying,
  • 00:09:38.180 --> 00:09:40.090
  • think about this,
  • 00:09:40.090 --> 00:09:41.210
  • have you ever bought something and then regretted it?
  • 00:09:41.210 --> 00:09:45.000
  • We do it all the time.
  • 00:09:46.210 --> 00:09:47.240
  • That's what this is talking about.
  • 00:09:48.290 --> 00:09:50.080
  • It's an idol, it's a material
  • 00:09:50.080 --> 00:09:52.110
  • or object that we put in front of our relationship with God.
  • 00:09:52.110 --> 00:09:55.080
  • Because we don't even ask Him.
  • 00:09:55.080 --> 00:09:57.050
  • I remember one time this person was telling me about
  • 00:09:57.050 --> 00:09:59.240
  • wanting to buy this new car.
  • 00:09:59.240 --> 00:10:01.260
  • And so I said,
  • 00:10:01.260 --> 00:10:03.180
  • "Have you prayed about it?"
  • 00:10:03.180 --> 00:10:04.290
  • And he said,
  • 00:10:04.290 --> 00:10:06.250
  • "Really I haven't."
  • 00:10:06.250 --> 00:10:08.010
  • And I said, "Why?"
  • 00:10:08.010 --> 00:10:09.090
  • He said, "Because God might say no."
  • 00:10:09.090 --> 00:10:11.080
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:10:11.080 --> 00:10:12.150
  • Well at least he was honest you know.
  • 00:10:12.150 --> 00:10:13.220
  • But what he was saying was, this has become an idol to me.
  • 00:10:16.000 --> 00:10:19.030
  • I'm gonna do it anyway.
  • 00:10:19.030 --> 00:10:20.130
  • So, that's the second one.
  • 00:10:20.130 --> 00:10:22.030
  • Here's the third one.
  • 00:10:22.030 --> 00:10:23.140
  • Don't use God's name selfishly.
  • 00:10:23.140 --> 00:10:27.050
  • This goes along with the third commandment
  • 00:10:27.050 --> 00:10:28.270
  • You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  • 00:10:28.270 --> 00:10:32.000
  • Now, I do believe that this means
  • 00:10:32.000 --> 00:10:34.130
  • we obviously should not use God's name as a curse word,
  • 00:10:34.130 --> 00:10:37.240
  • obviously.
  • 00:10:37.240 --> 00:10:38.190
  • But I'd like to go back to the original language.
  • 00:10:40.090 --> 00:10:43.080
  • Think about, don't use God's name,
  • 00:10:43.080 --> 00:10:45.120
  • you shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  • 00:10:45.120 --> 00:10:49.220
  • What do you think about
  • 00:10:49.220 --> 00:10:51.160
  • when you think about a vain person?
  • 00:10:51.160 --> 00:10:54.280
  • A prideful person or a selfish a person.
  • 00:10:54.280 --> 00:10:58.210
  • A person whose focus is on himself.
  • 00:10:58.210 --> 00:11:01.210
  • So here's what He's saying,
  • 00:11:01.210 --> 00:11:02.260
  • "Don't use God's name selfishly."
  • 00:11:02.260 --> 00:11:06.130
  • So again we shouldn't use God's name as profanity.
  • 00:11:07.260 --> 00:11:10.000
  • Never, never ever.
  • 00:11:10.000 --> 00:11:11.140
  • I believe that the third commandment refers to this,
  • 00:11:11.140 --> 00:11:13.150
  • but,
  • 00:11:13.150 --> 00:11:14.290
  • how many times do we use God's name in a selfish way?
  • 00:11:14.290 --> 00:11:18.100
  • We have neighbors that are lost they're on their way to hell
  • 00:11:20.150 --> 00:11:23.150
  • and we're praying for new outdoor furniture,
  • 00:11:25.020 --> 00:11:27.070
  • or praying for a bigger house,
  • 00:11:28.290 --> 00:11:30.190
  • not just because we need it,
  • 00:11:30.190 --> 00:11:32.090
  • because we wanna impress our friends
  • 00:11:33.130 --> 00:11:34.210
  • because they got a bigger house.
  • 00:11:34.210 --> 00:11:36.240
  • Selfish.
  • 00:11:36.240 --> 00:11:38.020
  • I think people even use in Jesus' name,
  • 00:11:38.020 --> 00:11:41.010
  • like some sort of a magical incantation.
  • 00:11:42.070 --> 00:11:45.080
  • If I just put these three words on the end of it,
  • 00:11:45.080 --> 00:11:47.240
  • in Jesus' name, in Jesus' name,
  • 00:11:47.240 --> 00:11:49.280
  • the Bible says I'll get whatever I ask
  • 00:11:49.280 --> 00:11:52.030
  • if I just pray in Jesus' name.
  • 00:11:52.030 --> 00:11:54.000
  • The only problem is, when you're talking about the Bible,
  • 00:11:54.000 --> 00:11:56.070
  • you have to take the whole Bible,
  • 00:11:56.070 --> 00:11:57.270
  • and the Bible says very clearly,
  • 00:11:57.270 --> 00:11:59.230
  • if we pray according to God's will,
  • 00:11:59.230 --> 00:12:01.160
  • - [Audience] It happens
  • 00:12:01.160 --> 00:12:02.230
  • - So that's what we're praying for.
  • 00:12:02.230 --> 00:12:05.020
  • I can remember Debbie and I, we wanted,
  • 00:12:05.020 --> 00:12:08.050
  • this was when we were young in our marriage,
  • 00:12:08.050 --> 00:12:10.110
  • but,
  • 00:12:10.110 --> 00:12:11.180
  • for some reason, and it was mainly me,
  • 00:12:11.180 --> 00:12:15.050
  • it was totally me, it was 100% me.
  • 00:12:15.050 --> 00:12:17.250
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:12:17.250 --> 00:12:19.040
  • I wanted this new car,
  • 00:12:19.040 --> 00:12:22.020
  • and loaded up all the options
  • 00:12:22.020 --> 00:12:24.240
  • and I just I'd always seen this car and wanted this car
  • 00:12:24.240 --> 00:12:28.240
  • and and so finally we just did it.
  • 00:12:30.000 --> 00:12:32.030
  • We went and bought it.
  • 00:12:32.030 --> 00:12:33.030
  • And the payment came out big.
  • 00:12:33.030 --> 00:12:34.070
  • This is a big, big payment.
  • 00:12:34.070 --> 00:12:36.240
  • And I can remember though praying in Jesus' name,
  • 00:12:36.240 --> 00:12:39.120
  • in Jesus name, I really want you in Jesus' name, okay.
  • 00:12:39.120 --> 00:12:42.120
  • The Lord spoke to us so clearly.
  • 00:12:42.120 --> 00:12:44.170
  • You sell that car.
  • 00:12:44.170 --> 00:12:45.180
  • You sell that, it was about 18 months into it,
  • 00:12:47.010 --> 00:12:49.180
  • everything was going wrong with our finances,
  • 00:12:49.180 --> 00:12:52.020
  • we couldn't hardly make it,
  • 00:12:52.020 --> 00:12:53.180
  • we were always struggling for this one car payment,
  • 00:12:53.180 --> 00:12:56.100
  • and I remember telling the Lord,
  • 00:12:56.100 --> 00:12:57.180
  • "Lord, if I sell this car, I'm upside down."
  • 00:12:57.180 --> 00:13:01.100
  • Here is where He said son,
  • 00:13:02.270 --> 00:13:04.230
  • you're upside down in a lot of ways.
  • 00:13:04.230 --> 00:13:07.000
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:13:07.000 --> 00:13:07.250
  • Not just the car.
  • 00:13:07.250 --> 00:13:09.030
  • But we sold that car,
  • 00:13:09.030 --> 00:13:10.230
  • we had to pay some cash to get out of it,
  • 00:13:10.230 --> 00:13:12.170
  • and we bought a car for $750,
  • 00:13:12.170 --> 00:13:15.130
  • cash.
  • 00:13:16.110 --> 00:13:17.060
  • But we loved that car.
  • 00:13:17.060 --> 00:13:18.040
  • We had so much peace and joy,
  • 00:13:18.040 --> 00:13:20.260
  • I can't even tell you, how happy we were,
  • 00:13:20.260 --> 00:13:23.200
  • driving this car down the road
  • 00:13:23.200 --> 00:13:25.050
  • knowing we didn't have to make this great big payment.
  • 00:13:25.050 --> 00:13:26.260
  • - [Audience] Amen
  • 00:13:26.260 --> 00:13:28.040
  • - And we loved it, we really loved that car.
  • 00:13:28.040 --> 00:13:30.120
  • We prayed over it, we anointed it with oil,
  • 00:13:30.120 --> 00:13:33.040
  • about a quart a week,
  • 00:13:33.040 --> 00:13:34.140
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:13:34.140 --> 00:13:37.080
  • but we love that car.
  • 00:13:37.080 --> 00:13:38.120
  • So, here's number four.
  • 00:13:38.120 --> 00:13:40.120
  • Be a good steward.
  • 00:13:40.120 --> 00:13:42.050
  • - [Audience] Yes.
  • 00:13:42.050 --> 00:13:43.200
  • - [Robert] And this goes along with the fourth commandment.
  • 00:13:43.200 --> 00:13:45.050
  • Now you might not realize why, first, but you'll see.
  • 00:13:45.050 --> 00:13:47.150
  • Exodus 20:8-10.
  • 00:13:47.150 --> 00:13:49.180
  • Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
  • 00:13:49.180 --> 00:13:52.090
  • Now here's we're gonna talk about stewardship, but listen,
  • 00:13:52.090 --> 00:13:55.020
  • six days you shall labor,
  • 00:13:55.020 --> 00:13:58.020
  • and do all your emails, I'm sorry, it said work.
  • 00:13:58.020 --> 00:14:02.020
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:14:02.020 --> 00:14:03.260
  • I just thought I'd bring it up to modern times.
  • 00:14:03.260 --> 00:14:07.140
  • Do all your work,
  • 00:14:07.140 --> 00:14:10.130
  • but the seventh day is the Sabbath
  • 00:14:10.130 --> 00:14:12.240
  • of the Lord your God,
  • 00:14:14.050 --> 00:14:15.090
  • in it, you shall do,
  • 00:14:15.090 --> 00:14:17.020
  • no
  • 00:14:17.020 --> 00:14:17.280
  • work.
  • 00:14:18.260 --> 00:14:20.110
  • Okay, so why am I saying that this relates to stewardship?
  • 00:14:20.110 --> 00:14:23.070
  • It's a steward in your time.
  • 00:14:23.070 --> 00:14:24.190
  • Do you realize people get more done,
  • 00:14:26.290 --> 00:14:29.150
  • if they'll rest one day a week?
  • 00:14:31.050 --> 00:14:32.210
  • Companies who rest one day a week are more productive.
  • 00:14:34.040 --> 00:14:37.030
  • The average
  • 00:14:37.030 --> 00:14:38.150
  • fast food
  • 00:14:38.150 --> 00:14:39.270
  • company in America,
  • 00:14:39.270 --> 00:14:41.060
  • makes a million dollars a year.
  • 00:14:41.060 --> 00:14:43.120
  • The average, average, okay?
  • 00:14:43.120 --> 00:14:46.090
  • And most of them are open 24 hours a day,
  • 00:14:46.090 --> 00:14:49.020
  • but they're all open seven days a week,
  • 00:14:49.020 --> 00:14:51.070
  • except for one,
  • 00:14:51.070 --> 00:14:52.050
  • Chick-fil-A.
  • 00:14:54.020 --> 00:14:54.270
  • And they're not open 24 hours either.
  • 00:14:56.190 --> 00:14:58.150
  • Average makes a million a year,
  • 00:15:01.040 --> 00:15:05.030
  • Chick-fil-A, five million a year.
  • 00:15:05.030 --> 00:15:08.020
  • - [Audience] Whoa.
  • 00:15:08.020 --> 00:15:09.090
  • - $5.000.000
  • 00:15:09.090 --> 00:15:10.060
  • five times more,
  • 00:15:11.150 --> 00:15:13.230
  • because they rest one day a week.
  • 00:15:13.230 --> 00:15:15.120
  • Let me say another way, this is a little bit like tithing.
  • 00:15:17.210 --> 00:15:19.280
  • Okay?
  • 00:15:19.280 --> 00:15:21.120
  • Resting one day a week,
  • 00:15:21.120 --> 00:15:24.020
  • is believing that God can do more in six days,
  • 00:15:24.020 --> 00:15:28.050
  • than you can in seven.
  • 00:15:28.050 --> 00:15:29.140
  • - [Audience] Amen.
  • 00:15:29.140 --> 00:15:30.280
  • - And by the way if you wanna know
  • 00:15:30.280 --> 00:15:32.040
  • how much God can do in six days,
  • 00:15:32.040 --> 00:15:33.270
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:15:35.110 --> 00:15:38.050
  • read Genesis 1,
  • 00:15:38.050 --> 00:15:39.240
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:15:39.240 --> 00:15:41.010
  • and then go out and look up at the stars,
  • 00:15:41.010 --> 00:15:43.090
  • and the ocean,
  • 00:15:43.090 --> 00:15:44.120
  • He can do a lot in six days.
  • 00:15:45.260 --> 00:15:47.100
  • - [Audience] Amen
  • 00:15:47.100 --> 00:15:48.200
  • - So if the reason I say it's like tithing,
  • 00:15:48.200 --> 00:15:50.200
  • is because tithing is believing that God could do more,
  • 00:15:50.200 --> 00:15:53.240
  • with 90% than you can with a hundred.
  • 00:15:53.240 --> 00:15:56.040
  • So be a good steward.
  • 00:15:57.080 --> 00:15:58.160
  • And let me give you these three things,
  • 00:15:58.160 --> 00:16:00.110
  • all good stewards, do these three things.
  • 00:16:00.110 --> 00:16:02.230
  • And I've been studying this for over 35 years.
  • 00:16:02.230 --> 00:16:04.260
  • All good stewards, spend wisely,
  • 00:16:04.260 --> 00:16:07.090
  • so when you do buy something,
  • 00:16:08.150 --> 00:16:09.280
  • it needs to be a wise purchase,
  • 00:16:09.280 --> 00:16:11.220
  • spend wisely,
  • 00:16:11.220 --> 00:16:13.050
  • save diligently,
  • 00:16:13.050 --> 00:16:15.160
  • and give generously.
  • 00:16:15.160 --> 00:16:16.250
  • Never met a good steward that doesn't do those three things.
  • 00:16:18.090 --> 00:16:21.050
  • Spend wisely,
  • 00:16:21.050 --> 00:16:22.200
  • save diligently,
  • 00:16:22.200 --> 00:16:24.170
  • and give generously.
  • 00:16:24.170 --> 00:16:26.130
  • And here's the fifth one.
  • 00:16:26.130 --> 00:16:27.260
  • Teach your children.
  • 00:16:27.260 --> 00:16:28.270
  • Teach your children these financial principles
  • 00:16:30.080 --> 00:16:33.100
  • of these financial Commandments.
  • 00:16:33.100 --> 00:16:35.000
  • This goes along obviously, with the fifth commandment.
  • 00:16:35.000 --> 00:16:38.050
  • Verse 12, Exodus 20:12,
  • 00:16:38.050 --> 00:16:40.050
  • "Honor your father and your mother."
  • 00:16:40.050 --> 00:16:43.030
  • God is concerned about your family.
  • 00:16:43.030 --> 00:16:45.190
  • He puts it in the top ten.
  • 00:16:46.230 --> 00:16:48.210
  • Now why would God want children to honor their parents?
  • 00:16:48.210 --> 00:16:52.250
  • How long have you ever thought about that, why?
  • 00:16:52.250 --> 00:16:55.030
  • You wanna know why?
  • 00:16:55.030 --> 00:16:56.110
  • Because they learn about God from their parents.
  • 00:16:56.110 --> 00:17:00.020
  • They learn the precepts of God from the parents.
  • 00:17:00.020 --> 00:17:03.000
  • They learned principles from their parents.
  • 00:17:03.000 --> 00:17:05.280
  • It's all through Scripture, God says,
  • 00:17:07.080 --> 00:17:10.030
  • you shall teach your children these things.
  • 00:17:10.030 --> 00:17:13.020
  • You shall tell your children about the Red Sea party,
  • 00:17:13.020 --> 00:17:16.130
  • you teach your children.
  • 00:17:16.130 --> 00:17:17.260
  • Okay, think about this though,
  • 00:17:17.260 --> 00:17:19.260
  • we're talking about a financial commandment now,
  • 00:17:19.260 --> 00:17:22.210
  • how many parents teach their children
  • 00:17:22.210 --> 00:17:25.280
  • how to handle their finances?
  • 00:17:25.280 --> 00:17:27.140
  • When,
  • 00:17:29.100 --> 00:17:30.230
  • my son, my oldest son who's doing great now,
  • 00:17:30.230 --> 00:17:34.040
  • but when he was newly married about a year or two into it,
  • 00:17:34.040 --> 00:17:38.060
  • he asked me to go to lunch one day,
  • 00:17:38.060 --> 00:17:39.250
  • and I said okay.
  • 00:17:39.250 --> 00:17:41.210
  • We went to lunch and he was pretty upset about something,
  • 00:17:41.210 --> 00:17:45.030
  • and I didn't know what it was.
  • 00:17:45.030 --> 00:17:46.280
  • And finally he told me, said dad,
  • 00:17:46.280 --> 00:17:48.260
  • my finances are a mess.
  • 00:17:50.080 --> 00:17:51.230
  • I messed up.
  • 00:17:53.180 --> 00:17:54.130
  • I'm upside down on some things,
  • 00:17:55.100 --> 00:17:57.180
  • we put some stuff on credit card,
  • 00:17:57.180 --> 00:18:00.170
  • and we haven't been able to keep up
  • 00:18:00.170 --> 00:18:02.170
  • and I'm just messed up, financially.
  • 00:18:02.170 --> 00:18:06.170
  • And we have a stewardship department at our church
  • 00:18:06.170 --> 00:18:09.280
  • that helps people with their finances.
  • 00:18:09.280 --> 00:18:12.190
  • And so I said to him,
  • 00:18:12.190 --> 00:18:14.040
  • well have you gone through our stewardship classes,
  • 00:18:14.040 --> 00:18:15.290
  • you know.
  • 00:18:15.290 --> 00:18:17.150
  • And I'll never forget this is what my son said.
  • 00:18:17.150 --> 00:18:19.250
  • He said, "Dad,
  • 00:18:20.230 --> 00:18:21.210
  • I can't
  • 00:18:23.080 --> 00:18:24.030
  • tell people am messed up financially."
  • 00:18:25.060 --> 00:18:26.270
  • He said my dad's the blessed life guy.
  • 00:18:29.070 --> 00:18:31.040
  • I can't do that.
  • 00:18:32.180 --> 00:18:33.160
  • And I said to him,
  • 00:18:34.200 --> 00:18:35.270
  • son, the blessed life guys messed up too.
  • 00:18:35.270 --> 00:18:38.130
  • I said as a matter of fact, there's only one human
  • 00:18:40.090 --> 00:18:42.240
  • that didn't mess up, his name Jesus.
  • 00:18:42.240 --> 00:18:45.140
  • He's the only one.
  • 00:18:45.140 --> 00:18:46.180
  • We all messed up.
  • 00:18:46.180 --> 00:18:48.070
  • So what I realized was,
  • 00:18:48.070 --> 00:18:50.000
  • I had taught my son financial principles,
  • 00:18:50.000 --> 00:18:53.260
  • but in this area I had not taught him,
  • 00:18:53.260 --> 00:18:56.050
  • it's okay to ask for help.
  • 00:18:56.050 --> 00:18:58.200
  • It's okay when you're messed up,
  • 00:18:58.200 --> 00:19:00.060
  • it's okay to ask for help.
  • 00:19:00.060 --> 00:19:01.280
  • So we need to teach our children
  • 00:19:01.280 --> 00:19:03.270
  • and the way you handle your money,
  • 00:19:03.270 --> 00:19:06.120
  • will teach your children how to handle their money.
  • 00:19:07.260 --> 00:19:10.150
  • If you're always buying stuff on credit,
  • 00:19:10.150 --> 00:19:13.010
  • if you're always barely making it,
  • 00:19:13.010 --> 00:19:15.030
  • and here's the other thing,
  • 00:19:15.030 --> 00:19:16.090
  • what about the stress in your home?
  • 00:19:16.090 --> 00:19:17.290
  • They pick up on that stress.
  • 00:19:18.260 --> 00:19:20.260
  • What about the way you talk about money?
  • 00:19:20.260 --> 00:19:22.220
  • What about saying things like,
  • 00:19:22.220 --> 00:19:24.200
  • well, we can't do that
  • 00:19:24.200 --> 00:19:26.020
  • because we just don't make enough money.
  • 00:19:26.020 --> 00:19:28.010
  • We need to make more money.
  • 00:19:29.170 --> 00:19:30.250
  • If we made more money,
  • 00:19:30.250 --> 00:19:32.060
  • then, maybe you could go, you know,
  • 00:19:32.060 --> 00:19:34.140
  • where those kids are going to on vacation.
  • 00:19:34.140 --> 00:19:36.250
  • But we don't make that much money.
  • 00:19:36.250 --> 00:19:38.200
  • We're just teaching them, that money is the answer.
  • 00:19:38.200 --> 00:19:41.140
  • It's very very important, this is a financial principle
  • 00:19:42.260 --> 00:19:44.220
  • because it's gonna be imparted to your children.
  • 00:19:44.220 --> 00:19:47.160
  • So let me tell you one more
  • 00:19:47.160 --> 00:19:48.260
  • thing that happened.
  • 00:19:50.110 --> 00:19:51.110
  • I preached on tithing one time in our Church.
  • 00:19:52.160 --> 00:19:54.270
  • And there was a single mother,
  • 00:19:54.270 --> 00:19:57.050
  • and she decided for the first time to tithe,
  • 00:19:57.050 --> 00:19:59.200
  • and she's not a bad person,
  • 00:19:59.200 --> 00:20:01.230
  • people that don't tithe they're not bad people.
  • 00:20:01.230 --> 00:20:03.290
  • Its just, they just have never had a break through
  • 00:20:03.290 --> 00:20:06.170
  • in this area and it's difficult.
  • 00:20:06.170 --> 00:20:08.140
  • And many times, they never been taught
  • 00:20:08.140 --> 00:20:11.020
  • how to handle their finances,
  • 00:20:11.020 --> 00:20:12.240
  • and they just don't know.
  • 00:20:12.240 --> 00:20:14.010
  • It's like they've never had driver's education
  • 00:20:15.070 --> 00:20:17.090
  • and they're having wrecks all the time.
  • 00:20:17.090 --> 00:20:18.190
  • You know, no one ever taught it, you know.
  • 00:20:18.190 --> 00:20:20.180
  • So anyway I taught about how to handle you money,
  • 00:20:20.180 --> 00:20:23.120
  • and taught about tithing,
  • 00:20:23.120 --> 00:20:24.290
  • and so she decided I'm tithing for the first time this week.
  • 00:20:24.290 --> 00:20:28.040
  • I'm gonna tithe.
  • 00:20:28.040 --> 00:20:29.120
  • And so she comes to church,
  • 00:20:29.120 --> 00:20:31.060
  • and she made $1000 that week,
  • 00:20:31.060 --> 00:20:33.180
  • and so the tithe's $100.
  • 00:20:33.180 --> 00:20:36.080
  • And we don't pass the plate at our church,
  • 00:20:36.080 --> 00:20:38.030
  • we have offering boxes on the wall.
  • 00:20:38.030 --> 00:20:40.030
  • And so at the end of the service,
  • 00:20:40.030 --> 00:20:41.240
  • she sat down to write out the check for $100,
  • 00:20:41.240 --> 00:20:45.050
  • and the Lord said to her, "Add $20 to it."
  • 00:20:45.050 --> 00:20:48.290
  • Just like that, add $20.
  • 00:20:49.260 --> 00:20:51.250
  • And she said Lord, this is a stretch,
  • 00:20:51.250 --> 00:20:54.220
  • I don't know if I'll be able to make it,
  • 00:20:56.130 --> 00:20:57.250
  • I mean I'm doing this by faith, but you're saying add 20
  • 00:20:57.250 --> 00:21:00.170
  • and here's what the Lord said to her.
  • 00:21:00.170 --> 00:21:02.040
  • "For the tithe you're returning,
  • 00:21:02.040 --> 00:21:04.110
  • the 20 you're giving,
  • 00:21:05.270 --> 00:21:07.140
  • and I want you to experience the joy of giving,
  • 00:21:09.200 --> 00:21:12.260
  • not just the joy of returning."
  • 00:21:12.260 --> 00:21:14.130
  • So,
  • 00:21:15.140 --> 00:21:16.120
  • she writes the check for $120,
  • 00:21:16.120 --> 00:21:18.120
  • and she puts it in our offering box.
  • 00:21:18.120 --> 00:21:21.220
  • She's walking to her car,
  • 00:21:21.220 --> 00:21:23.250
  • and when I found out about this,
  • 00:21:23.250 --> 00:21:26.150
  • and told the church this story,
  • 00:21:27.120 --> 00:21:30.280
  • but you have to understand something about the story,
  • 00:21:30.280 --> 00:21:32.240
  • so what I'm telling the church,
  • 00:21:32.240 --> 00:21:34.060
  • I said to the church,
  • 00:21:34.060 --> 00:21:35.290
  • and there's a man in our Church,
  • 00:21:35.290 --> 00:21:38.130
  • who gives away hundred-dollar bills
  • 00:21:38.130 --> 00:21:40.110
  • when the Lord tells him to.
  • 00:21:40.110 --> 00:21:41.210
  • Now, I'm gonna tell you kind of in the story,
  • 00:21:42.260 --> 00:21:45.150
  • I'm that man.
  • 00:21:46.120 --> 00:21:47.190
  • Okay, now I wasn't lying to our Church
  • 00:21:47.190 --> 00:21:50.120
  • because I am a man, and I am in the church.
  • 00:21:50.120 --> 00:21:53.050
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:21:53.050 --> 00:21:54.110
  • I just didn't wanna bring me into the story
  • 00:21:54.110 --> 00:21:56.090
  • because the story was about her.
  • 00:21:56.090 --> 00:21:58.180
  • So I said, so this man,
  • 00:21:58.180 --> 00:22:00.180
  • he's going to his car,
  • 00:22:02.000 --> 00:22:03.120
  • and he sees this lady walking across the parking lot
  • 00:22:03.120 --> 00:22:05.110
  • and the Lord said, "Go give her a hundred-dollar bill."
  • 00:22:05.110 --> 00:22:08.110
  • Just like that.
  • 00:22:08.110 --> 00:22:09.270
  • So this man walks over and when he's walking over
  • 00:22:09.270 --> 00:22:12.290
  • he pulls his wallet out
  • 00:22:12.290 --> 00:22:14.060
  • and right beside the 100 was a 20,
  • 00:22:14.060 --> 00:22:16.190
  • and the Lord said, "Give her the 20 too."
  • 00:22:16.190 --> 00:22:19.060
  • Give her the 20 also.
  • 00:22:20.170 --> 00:22:21.240
  • And the man said,
  • 00:22:22.250 --> 00:22:23.230
  • and remember who the man is now,
  • 00:22:23.230 --> 00:22:25.080
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:22:25.080 --> 00:22:26.160
  • the man said,
  • 00:22:26.160 --> 00:22:27.210
  • "Lord I don't give twenty-dollar bills
  • 00:22:28.270 --> 00:22:30.070
  • I gave hundred-dollar bills."
  • 00:22:30.070 --> 00:22:31.050
  • (audience laughing)
  • 00:22:31.050 --> 00:22:33.140
  • And the Lord said, "No, you obey.
  • 00:22:33.140 --> 00:22:35.240
  • That's what you do. You obey.
  • 00:22:35.240 --> 00:22:37.080
  • You do what I tell you to do."
  • 00:22:37.080 --> 00:22:38.230
  • So the man gives her $120.
  • 00:22:39.190 --> 00:22:41.120
  • Now, I want you to think about that.
  • 00:22:41.120 --> 00:22:43.120
  • A guy who normally gives hundred-dollar bills,
  • 00:22:44.170 --> 00:22:47.190
  • she writes it not for a hundred but one hundred and twenty
  • 00:22:47.190 --> 00:22:49.280
  • and the Lord says give her a hundred twenty.
  • 00:22:49.280 --> 00:22:52.060
  • Okay, you'll never convince me in a million years,
  • 00:22:52.060 --> 00:22:55.240
  • that that was a coincidence.
  • 00:22:55.240 --> 00:22:57.230
  • - Amen.
  • 00:22:57.230 --> 00:22:58.180
  • - That was God. Okay.
  • 00:22:58.180 --> 00:22:59.230
  • So, but I tell the whole Church this story,
  • 00:22:59.230 --> 00:23:02.000
  • but I never put me in the story.
  • 00:23:02.000 --> 00:23:03.120
  • I never tell them who it is,
  • 00:23:03.120 --> 00:23:04.190
  • I just say there's a man in the church.
  • 00:23:04.190 --> 00:23:06.120
  • Here's the another really good part of this.
  • 00:23:08.070 --> 00:23:11.210
  • I tell the Church this,
  • 00:23:11.210 --> 00:23:13.090
  • that day we're having all the kids over for lunch.
  • 00:23:13.090 --> 00:23:16.290
  • My daughter,
  • 00:23:16.290 --> 00:23:18.090
  • had about a two year time
  • 00:23:18.090 --> 00:23:19.250
  • where she walked away from the Lord but she did it secretly.
  • 00:23:19.250 --> 00:23:22.230
  • She still came to Church but she lived double life.
  • 00:23:22.230 --> 00:23:25.100
  • She had come back to the Lord,
  • 00:23:26.150 --> 00:23:29.030
  • our relationship was great now,
  • 00:23:29.030 --> 00:23:31.090
  • she actually speaks now,
  • 00:23:31.090 --> 00:23:32.240
  • she's wonderful mother of four, great Godly women.
  • 00:23:32.240 --> 00:23:36.290
  • So she is sitting there listening to me tell this story.
  • 00:23:36.290 --> 00:23:39.140
  • They come over for lunch and she says to me,
  • 00:23:40.180 --> 00:23:42.130
  • "Daddy can I talk to you for a minute?"
  • 00:23:42.130 --> 00:23:44.110
  • I said, "Sure."
  • 00:23:45.140 --> 00:23:46.280
  • So we went in my office,
  • 00:23:46.280 --> 00:23:48.170
  • and she's crying,
  • 00:23:49.230 --> 00:23:50.250
  • and she said to me,
  • 00:23:51.210 --> 00:23:52.270
  • "You're the man that gives hundred-dollar bills aren't you?
  • 00:23:56.050 --> 00:23:58.190
  • Aren't you?"
  • 00:23:58.190 --> 00:23:59.150
  • And I said, "Why are you asking me this?"
  • 00:24:02.210 --> 00:24:06.060
  • She said, "Because when you started telling that story,
  • 00:24:06.060 --> 00:24:08.280
  • I had all these memories,
  • 00:24:10.080 --> 00:24:11.290
  • of you going up to people like the server at a restaurant
  • 00:24:13.250 --> 00:24:16.230
  • after we were going out to the car,
  • 00:24:16.230 --> 00:24:18.220
  • and talking to him and putting something in their hand."
  • 00:24:20.040 --> 00:24:22.150
  • And I had the memory of the guy on the side of the road
  • 00:24:24.120 --> 00:24:26.270
  • with the sign, will work for food,
  • 00:24:26.270 --> 00:24:29.060
  • and you're going over and talking.
  • 00:24:29.060 --> 00:24:31.060
  • We used to ask mom what's dad doing?
  • 00:24:31.060 --> 00:24:33.060
  • And mom would say,
  • 00:24:35.040 --> 00:24:36.120
  • he's just sharing the love of God with him.
  • 00:24:36.120 --> 00:24:39.060
  • And I always tell people about Jesus,
  • 00:24:39.060 --> 00:24:41.010
  • when I give him a hundred-dollar bills.
  • 00:24:41.010 --> 00:24:43.090
  • But I'd give him that.
  • 00:24:43.090 --> 00:24:44.290
  • She said, I could see all growing up.
  • 00:24:44.290 --> 00:24:48.170
  • See your children learn from you.
  • 00:24:48.170 --> 00:24:50.250
  • She said I remember all these times,
  • 00:24:50.250 --> 00:24:53.190
  • and she said you're the man
  • 00:24:53.190 --> 00:24:55.010
  • that gives hundred-dollars bills,
  • 00:24:55.010 --> 00:24:55.260
  • aren't you.
  • 00:24:55.260 --> 00:24:56.210
  • And I said yes sugar I am.
  • 00:24:59.010 --> 00:25:00.150
  • And my daughter said to me,
  • 00:25:01.220 --> 00:25:03.030
  • I wanna be like you daddy.
  • 00:25:06.260 --> 00:25:08.050
  • I wanna be like you.
  • 00:25:13.200 --> 00:25:14.230
  • That's worth managing your finances in such a way
  • 00:25:19.080 --> 00:25:22.010
  • that you can be generous.
  • 00:25:22.010 --> 00:25:23.110
  • That's worth it.
  • 00:25:24.170 --> 00:25:25.120
  • I want you to just close your eyes for a moment.
  • 00:25:26.240 --> 00:25:29.230
  • And there at home,
  • 00:25:29.230 --> 00:25:31.130
  • I just want you to take a moment,
  • 00:25:31.130 --> 00:25:33.270
  • and just ask the Holy Spirit,
  • 00:25:33.270 --> 00:25:36.000
  • what are you saying to me through this?
  • 00:25:36.000 --> 00:25:38.180
  • We're not just talking about managing our money
  • 00:25:38.180 --> 00:25:41.170
  • so we don't have as much stress,
  • 00:25:41.170 --> 00:25:45.020
  • and that is part of it.
  • 00:25:45.020 --> 00:25:46.160
  • God doesn't want you to live with financial stress.
  • 00:25:46.160 --> 00:25:49.060
  • But we're talking about managing your finances,
  • 00:25:49.060 --> 00:25:51.150
  • so we can be generous.
  • 00:25:51.150 --> 00:25:53.220
  • And it'll affect the next generations too.
  • 00:25:53.220 --> 00:25:56.110
  • So I just wanna pray for you.
  • 00:25:57.100 --> 00:25:58.240
  • Holy Spirit I pray every person listening right now,
  • 00:25:58.240 --> 00:26:01.280
  • will catch the vision of being generous,
  • 00:26:01.280 --> 00:26:05.140
  • and being good stewards, in Jesus name,
  • 00:26:05.140 --> 00:26:09.020
  • Amen.
  • 00:26:09.290 --> 00:26:11.030
  • Hey I just wanna remind you,
  • 00:26:11.030 --> 00:26:12.140
  • I'm talking about the 10 financial Commandments,
  • 00:26:12.140 --> 00:26:14.200
  • I just went through five of them,
  • 00:26:14.200 --> 00:26:16.170
  • next show, I'm gonna do the next five.
  • 00:26:16.170 --> 00:26:19.020
  • I'll see you then.
  • 00:26:19.020 --> 00:26:19.290
  • (audience clapping)
  • 00:26:20.250 --> 00:26:21.200
  • (upbeat music)
